Tomorrow Coyote with the clearing winds, but today a short session at the Stick was good enough if up and down.
Out with GP2 6.6 and CA 58 powered to overpowered, had to stop at some point because it was getting a bit out of control (4.3 conditions?). Than back out for another 40'. Again quite overpowered, 4.7-5.5 was clearly enough, until it was time to call the day and go back to work. Fun (and fast) if physically demanding
Saturday May 3rd. Oh well, Coyote did not materialize, Stick was pretty bad starting at 4.3 to drop off brutally to 5.5-6.0 conditions. Good call was probably Crissy? Or Berkeley? .. anyway ...

Washoe active last two nights, last night 4.7 to 5.0. Supposed to be more the next 2 or 3 days. Turns out Lahontan will be in play as the Carson River did okay. It was somewhere around 70 or 75 % of normal while Truckee was only 40% of normal. Carson drains south Tahoe to Kirkwood area, which often gets more in an off year.

Saturday Berkeley. High 20s with 30mph love bumps. Feeling welped.

The middle of the day was very nice sailing and then the wind really turned on until dark. Image is of Jason Voss.

Wind at Coyote on Saturday not the best - SW to W and holey. You needed to go big on the inside and small on the outside. I tried both- sailed 6.6/110L for the first hour and 5.0/90L for another hour..neither setup was satisfying. Got backwinded a couple of times by the shifty wind..weird. Will probably do Oyster on Sunday. They've put sandbags on top of the new ramps . Wonder when they'll repave the parking area.

Opted to sail Third instead of Oyster Pt. because the read at 1:30pm was 18 in the channel. Went 5.0/110L and was fine for awhile but was not powered enough to counteract the flood. Rigged big (6.6) and was well powered but the flood chop was killing me. Sailed most of the time out beyond the channel marker where the chop was more civilized. I was the only windsurfer out there though a couple of kiters showed up later. Should be more wind tomorrow and especially on Tuesday.

Very nice afternoon at Lahontan (hour east of Reno). Clean water, sandy beaches, good fetch with steadier winds than Washoe (but doesn't blow as often and doesn't get much of a thermal-you have to know when to go). Water is good enough should last most of if not all summer/fall. Two of us is all, unfortunately.

A long and enjoyable session at stick today (Monday) on my 4.7/100 or 4.7/90 from 2 to 4:45 straight with a 10 minutes break for board switching. Wind picked up even more as I was leaving at 5:15. Must be windy everywhere in the Bay Area since only a handful of sailors at cite.
