Evans, I too am dismayed though not ready to quit---- worst year of wind in my records. Yes some swell and paddling- but sailing was dismal. Still beats all the sports you don't depend on nature for- golf, tennis, basketball etc...maybe that's part of the appeal- when it's on- nothing compares.. and when it 's not- work and save for the good days- yea, I wish it was a gym membership thing- just pay the monthly and show up... but that's why they call it windsurfing... aggghhhh frustration and stoke.. yin/yang...

CrazyF called me last night on his commute home to bitch about the lack of wind. Poor guy, for 10 minutes he heard a curse-laden diatribe from me detailing the lack of wind from last spring onward...
Next time he'll probably keep it to himself

Oh no, another optimistic state funded composite forecast
COASTAL WATERS FROM PTOWN TO CHATHAM -- 352 PM EST FRI DEC 7 2012
.SAT...SE WINDS 10 TO 15 KT WITH GUSTS UP TO 20 KT...BECOMING SW
IN THE AFTERNOON. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT.
Showers, mainly before 3pm. Patchy fog. High near 54. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Maybe some pm standup surf action up at the red roof inn.

Hope your sitting around at Coast Guard was relaxing, Jerry. I also hope that you can take off from work for a few hours tomorrow - for once, all the computer models predict decent wind.
Biggest potential issue is decoupling, since it will be very warm tomorrow. If it decouples, it may be time to visit Ron's playground in Skaket (side to side-off, no decoupling problems). It will be a long walk after noon with a negative tide @2:40, but a 20 min walk beats giving up.
Talking about Ron - here's the forecast in his preferred format:
NANTUCKET SOUND- 717 AM EST SUN DEC 9 2012
...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM EST THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...
.MON...SW WINDS 15 TO 20 KT WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 KT.

Thanks for the forecast Peter
If it's any good in the afternoon, and you guys are going, give me a call. I'd like to hit Kalmus because of the tide.
On another topicPeter; last summer a friend, or more of my wife's friend, showed up at Nauset with a BIC 10-6 sup board. My reaction was there goes the sport when a "house wife" is getting into it. Tired of listening to gossip, I took that thing out for a little spin. Without expecting anything, I caught a ton of fantastic swell rides. Not the coolest board on the beach but durable and fun.
On another topic; just happen to be having my lunch and saw these

Looks like someone was having fun today! Pretty much all the meters were reading lower than what the white caps indicate.
If the Kalmus meter show 19 or more tomorrow, we will be there. I'm planning to start in the morning and sail until I can't anymore, the sun goes down, or the wind disappears (hoping it will be the sun). Very likely that (a) we'll be at Kalmus in the afternoon, and (b) that I can't call you because I'm out having fun. In the afternoon, we may sail over to Egg Island if there is enough west in the wind. If it's SSW, we'll probably stay in front.
