Wow! These guys just had perhaps one of the best speed weeks in windsurfing history!
http://www.gps-speedsurfing.com/
Many new top speeds over 50 knots! Truely incredible accomplishments.
Although these speeds have not surpased the Kiting world, they do indeed reach near our best Iceboard reuslts!
Antoine Albeau has posted 53.52 knots max 2 sec peak, with 500 meter course at 51.96 knts.
Meanwhile, in another part of the world, Nambia, the Outright World Speed Record has been broken by this high tech bit of machinery....Vestas Sailrocket 2...59 knot average speed over 500 meters, peak 2 sec speed at 64.78 knots (74.55 mph, 120kph).

...bye bye kiters....and the rest!
Luderitz Speed for laughs...because 'light speed' is just too slow...

Broken again.
The Vestas sailrocket smashed the record again. 68 Knots 1 second and 65 knot 10 second run.
Un-freaking-believable.
I saw this on sailing anarchy and thought you guys would like it.

Interesting to see:
1) There is not much if any sail twist
2) Rake to windward of sail to produce lift of leeward hull completely out of water
3) windward ride is on foils, after planning up on pods
What an incredible machine!

Yep, Brownie's got it right.
I suspect less twist because at that speed in 30kts of wind, there is less vertical gradient of the apparent wind.
at 2.5x the wind speed even downwind is upwind.
I love how the leeward float isnt in the water. So cool.
His torso is faired in nicely in the cockpit. That is a huge advantage over flying Black Dogs and frozen, flying Iceratz.
Have a great season Jeff! Go fast and stay safe. That goes for everyone.
