mrgybe, I have to ask, were your 5 occasions sailing the Gorge all during that family trip some 25 years ago?
I have to admit that in all my many trips to the Gorge, I've never sailed in The Dalles, so you're a leg up on me on that experience. |

Au contraire mon brave. How many other people do you know that have done that? Skiing with boots on the appropriate feet is just too mundane! |
My Wife taught skiing between college and med school. She once had a student who was having all sorts of trouble with his feet. Well, turns out he had his loafers on under his ski boots! I think some kid who worked in the rental shop is still laughing. A guy who came up to my wife's chin with size 14 boots! Texan of course!
Boots on wrong feet...common! Boots in the ski bindings from rental shop, to top of car (in a snowstorm), to the base of the lift...less common...but, fun to watch!
I have never sailed the Dalles either in 30 trips to the Gorge. Celillo, yes. Gets better when it nukes and you head a bit up river. |

I don't think that either of you need be concerned about the gap in your sailing resume. For the experienced sailor, I don't believe that that the Dalles compares favorably with the better known spots nearby. Nevertheless, at the time, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the magnificent scenery in that area. Monster barges combined with shaky waterstart skills..........not so much! Heading for the OBX.......big front on it's way. |
