It's no problem to park before the bridge for non residents. I think the other side is OK after Labor Day, but I've never chanced it. Low tide will be a problem in the late afternoon. |
low tide at 5:40
I take it that the bay side is too shallow to sail during low tide ?
if so, do you know how close to low tide is possible ? |

Jeff, you can sail Duxbury with your 32 cm fin as long as the water level is +2 ft. That gives you a cutoff today at about 3:40 pm. If you're adventurous or on a smaller fin, you can stay out a bit longer, but with a negative tide today, you'll have to stop eventually. On days where the tide stay above +1 ft, you can sail through low tide on a small fin.
Near and after high tide, there will probably we a lot of dead reeds on the water near the launch, but it's usually much better on the far side.
See you there!

The Duxbury cutoff would be 4 at the latest, depending on fin size. Ninigret RI is also good in this direction. It's a salt pond, so no tidal effect. |

Anyone with insight into Little Compton (South Shore beach)? I love the concept of true sideshore/side-off in a NE. Magic Seaweed says about 3 ft surf this afternoon. |

I was at Chapin. It was packed with Kiters and about 10 windsurfers! One of the Cape's best windsurf chics was on a 4.8. If I wasn't such a wimp I would have been on a 4.2. It was very flat. It was also cold and misty. _________________ Ann Phelan

So how high is the sand bar here and where is the launch?
I'm always game for a new speed slick and happy to chum for sharks, but
last Dec. I found the sand back south of here (to the old cut) was much too
high for true speed runs. Video here: http://youtu.be/MVGpAeZY9aQ
