wow we effectively have no oversight on these things, i remember the day when media would uncover things like this way back.

Now how many of the media will even put this front page.

How many years have they been selling these supplements with no actual listed ingredients? when was the last time these were tested by any media or government agency? who should be paying for the testing?

http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/02/03/sidebar-whats-in-those-supplements/?emc=edit_th_20150203&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=43747607&_r=0

What’s in Those Supplements?

Quote:
The New York State attorney general’s office accused four national retailers on Monday of selling dietary supplements that were fraudulent and in many cases contaminated with unlisted ingredients.

The authorities said they had run tests on popular store brands of herbal supplements at the retailers — Walmart, Walgreens, Target and GNC — which showed that roughly four out of five of the products contained none of the herbs listed on their labels. In many cases, the authorities said, the supplements contained little more than cheap fillers like rice and house plants, or substances that could be hazardous to people with food allergies.

again how many so called liberal media will put this front page??? or is this just OK by right wingers standards...

Wow. That's sad about Brian Williams. We knew Dan Rather was losing it, but Brian's confession to lying for years about being in a helicoptre shot down a decade ago reveals some serious mental issues. It'll be interesting to see who takes his place while he gets some medical treatment ... Jesse Ventura? Michael Moore? Al Franken? George Soros?

and you consider him politically biased because of what? I personally would love to have him removed. He is awful.

Seems you do know he worked as a intern for Carter, but was not even in the same building and as a non-political intern. Do you know how many interns there are in DC in a year that are not in the white house?

Do you know why you would claim you worked as a non-political intern... well because you want it clear you are not a democrat.

I believe should have been removed from any major network for this... no liberal would have said such trash..

Quote:
on May 29, 2013, Brian read a story on NBC Nightly News about President Obama having lipstick on his collar during a public appearance. (Let's ignore the fact that this didn't remotely qualify as a news story and it didn't belong on a national newscast. Obviously, Brian Williams makes a living reporting frivolous stories with no news value.) During his introduction to the story, Brian said, "The President of the United States had a bit of 'splainin' to do last night...." The reference was to a phrase Desi Arnaz often uttered to Lucille Ball on the 1950's sitcom "I Love Lucy". (Senator Tom Coburn had also used the "'splainin'" phrase while questioning Sonia Sotomayor during Ms. Sotomayor's 2009 Senate confirmation hearing. Coburn's use of that word set off a firestorm of criticism that the word was insulting to Ms. Sotomayor's Latina heritage.) I don't think there's any question that this word is derogatory and insulting to Latinos and Latinas. It's no different than affecting an exaggerated Chinese or Italian accent to mock a person from China or Italy. It's nothing less than appalling that Brian had the nerve to use this offensive word on a network newscast.

speaking of interns in the building....

Williams has had to apologize in August for not having any black interns and saying newsroom diversity is not a priority in 2004.

Williams should be gone; dishonesty disqualifies you to be a journalist--but not a President, vice president, or a "Scooter." NW gets so excited about the comeuppance of a "liberal" I begin to wonder if he has a real life. Since I pay almost no attention to TV news, I didn't know what John Bircher's thought that William's political persuasion was. But the hypocrisy of the talk radio set is palpable. (I know you'll have to look that up NW. Hope your hands have stopped shaking.)

Let's look at just a few of the recent Fox lies, courtesy of Eric Alterman in the February 16, 2015, "The Nation."

Quote:
Eric Alterman January 28, 2015 |

Jeanine Pirro and Steven Emerson
Fox News host Jeanine Pirro and "terrorism expert" Steven Emerson

Fox News had what should be its defining moment recently. During an interview with host Jeanine Pirro—a failed Republican politician once married to a criminal tax evader—the self-credentialed terrorism expert Steven Emerson spouted a bunch of easily refutable nonsense designed to inspire even greater Islamophobia than is typically the norm on the network. “There are actual cities like Birmingham [England] that are totally Muslim, where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in,” he pretended, adding: “In parts of London, there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound—seriously—anyone who doesn’t dress according to Muslim, religious Muslim attire.”

This was just another day at the races for Fox News, a network that regularly pollutes our politics with a mixture of pernicious lies, purposeful ignorance and absurdly aggressive stupidity. On a different broadcast, Nolan Peterson, another self-credentialed expert, insisted that certain neighborhoods in Paris were governed by Islamic law to such a degree that French police feared to enter. “It was pretty scary,” he said. “I’ve been to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir, India, and at times it felt like those places in the no-go zones.” Yet another expert suggested that the proper response to this problem was to “put razor wire around” the alleged “no-go zones” and catalog their terrorist-loving residents.

As per usual, this combination of xenophobic animosity and pompous idiocy barely raised an eyebrow in the so-called cable-“news” media. To the contrary, CNN offered its guests airtime to spout similar stories, and, equally typically, right-wing politicians took it and ran with it. Louisiana governor and likely Republican presidential hopeful Bobby Jindal warned that certain groups of immigrants are seeking “to colonize Western countries” by “setting up [their] own enclave[s] and demanding recognition.”

All of this was, of course, false. But we don't expect honesty from Fox--or the Koch's--or discernment from NW. The clown show rolls on.

I doubt the character in the cartoon will be crying too long without Jon Stewart...he'll be back with $100mm deal before you know it.

In regards to Brian Williams...I understand why Bill O'Reilly has empathy for him...Faux Noise lies daily!!!

Once again you are correct, as proven by our president and vice president.
Very good mac, you're on a roll, but I'd add our current, and the bullet dodging former sec. of state as well.
