The cabal picking on the liars at Exxon Mobil apparently now includes the judge--who told them to hand over the files: http://www.pennenergy.com/articles/pennenergy/2017/01/oil-and-gas-judge-exxon-mobil-must-give-documents-to-attorney-general.html?utm_content=buffere9252&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Now I know lying and cheating don't bother the rabid righties here. But some of us are paying attention.

Nothing to hide from the "cabal"?

Quote:
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Rex Tillerson, the former oil executive under consideration for U.S. secretary of state, is trying to avoid giving testimony in a federal lawsuit over climate change, according to a lawyer for a group of teenagers who filed the suit.

Lawyers for the teenagers, who sued the federal government claiming it violated their constitutional rights by causing global warming, were scheduled to depose Tillerson, the former chief executive of Exxon Mobil, in his capacity as a board member of the American Petroleum Institute, a trade group.

The lawyers planned to ask Tillerson when he first learned of the impact the burning of fossil fuels was having on the Earth’s atmosphere.

Law360, New York (February 22, 2017, 5:37 PM EST) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. is facing a proposed class action in California state court accusing the oil giant of hazardously operating a refinery in the run-up to an explosion that released harmful pollutants into the air, and then rushing shoddy repairs in the aftermath of the blast to push through a half-billion-dollar sale.

Arnold Goldstein, John Covas and Gisela Janette La Bella’s complaint arises out of a massive explosion that occurred two years ago at a Torrance refinery, owned and operated by Exxon at the time,

JP, hopefully you're not being fooled by all the BS talking points that the expansion of oil development and processing in the US is going to result in lower gasoline pricing at the pump.

Why wouldn't it? It's all about supply and demand right?

JP, the price of gasoline at the pump is based on the international price of crude oil, and as we all know quite well, it varies considerably for a lot of different reasons, especially when US refinery costs and problems are factored in. The last thing that the big oil companies want to do is overproduce for the US marketplace and drive pricing downward. The oil companies have already paid a big hit in their expansion plans and potential profits because the Saudis and others in OPEC purposefully drove the price of crude oil down for quite a while.

A lot of the oil development and production here in the US, to include the anticipated tar sands crude to be piped in through the Keystone XL pipeline, is targeted for export worldwide as refined products. Not a lot of fanfare about that, because oil companies want to keep the American public in the dark. Better to promote BS talking points about the need to reduce regulations, job creation, and the need to greatly expand oil exploration on public lands all under the guise of US oil independence and the bogus lure of lower gasoline prices.

See JP, now you can claim to be informed! By the nicest gentleman that has graced the pages. The Saudis are like the death star, they can kill us through prices and bring death to our new oil ventures at any time they choose. Assuming they have stuff left underground.

Higher oil prices stimulate more efficient use. The US, and world economy, have been decarbonizing for decades while we twiddled our thumbs about global warming. That is why a carbon tax would be the most efficient and rapid way to decrease warming. The irony is that increased incentives for renewable energy and efficiency, while not significant in the full energy budget, have accommodated increased demand in developing countries and helped keep prices down. Not as much as OPEC squabbles or fracking, but still. Increased supply outside the carbon arena.
