I am going to Sherman island tonight and recall they lock the gate at 10pm. I may arrive after that does anyone know the lock combination? I have the combination from last year but I suspect it has changed.
If you have the combination please email it to windsurf@cox.net |

I have been going to Sherman Island (Powerlines) on trips to the bay area for many years, but I never seen a gate of any kind. Is the gate specific to certain location on the island, like at The Sign? |

i think they're referring to the gate at the county park (down by The Access). |

Thanks for the reply. I have to admit, I've never gone that far down the levee road, so the county park is a bit of an unknown to me. |

I've been sailing the Delta for over 14 years and I've never come to a lock. Especially since it would have to be an area that allows after hour lodging. So I'm guessing it's the Sign. I don't think the County Park would have a combination that they would share with windsurfers to park after hours (come on, does the County ever share that kind of information with anybody???)
There isn't a fence at Powerlines, or at the location just before the County park (the area down below the road). But my understanding is only Powerlines and The Sign allow after hour lodging. |

Come on swchandler, let’s be honest. The only reason you only sail Powerlines is the Anti-Kiter obstructions.

Quite honestly coachg, I sail all the time with kiters. Actually the places where I normally sail, there's always many more of them than us. Also, the majority of my old windsurfing buddies are dedicated kiters now, so one has to be tolerant and friendly mixing it up.
However, I'll be totally frank about one thing, I don't really play their assist game with respect to routine launching and returning. I've always taken care of myself getting in and out of the water for years, so I think they should play by the same rules.
Now that kind of outlook sometimes makes it tough for the poor kiters, especially at difficult launches like Powerlines, but that's their problem. Also, I was on the game long before there were kiters. The new guys on the block need to personally take responsibility for their sport. |

I think a short drive thru County Park will change your understanding. |
