I know it's early but I'm already in the planning stages for making time on Monday.
My goal is to hit it around the lunch hour at Kalmus after a summer long absence.
With a noon time high tide and a stiff SW, things should be rock'n.

Hello Ron,
I have been waiting for the perfect NE day to see you at Pleasant Bay but will be glad to see you at Kalmus on Monday -- however the IWindsurf prediction still sounds iffy.
"increasing southwesterly day with gusty wind strengths to low and mid twenties -- Watch for heavy shower potential and the chance for a late strong veer to NW or N."
The windguru prediction looks promising with SW in mid 20's most of the day

2008-09-15 12:51 EDT 3.32 feet High Tide
Guess much will depend on the weather to the west

See you then -
PS this Friday was fun at Kalmus - put the full wetsuit on for the 1st time since Spring.

If the wind is up, it's a date. I'll see you 2 there.

I can't sail on Monday but Sunday is sounding pretty nice to me. I'll have to wait and see if it happens and where it looks best, maybe the Cape, maybe R.I. _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

Hey Scopper
First off, keep up the good work on your web site. It's listed as one of my favorite sites.
Did I read it right that you were on your own last Sunday at Hardings?
If thats true, its a shame we didn't hook up. I wasn't looking for some left over swell from Hannah, but I got the full force of the NW wind on the other side in Orleans.

Tomorrow's wind looks about as good in the Boston area as down south. I plan to sail Lynn Beach for some bump and jump in small waves. |

Hi Ron,
Thanks for the comment about my blog.
Yeah, last Sunday I was solo for most of it. 1 guy came out about 1/2 hour before the wind died. Then a few cars, all loaded up with boards, pulled in right after it died and they were pretty pissed.
I'll bet it was good in Orleans. The wind must have been cleaner on your side.
I hope you get a good session on Monday! _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

It's 10 A.M. Sunday and raining here in Falmouth. Tomorrow's forecast looks like high winds in the morning. However, we were completely skunked by the Windguru forecast Tuesday. Sunday wasn't much good for wind matching the forecasts, either, but I had a good exercise session. I was out very early in the morning, but didn't see any of the high NW winds predicted on Wacko Bay. The same goes for my last day out, Friday, the forecast was for a high of 16 m.p.h. for the whole cape around 5 p.m. When I arrived at 2 or 3, my windmeter was reading a steady 19 with gusts to 23. It then became apparent that there were many long lulls amongst strong gusts. I rigged my new 8.0 V-8 and proceeded to immediately put in two good long reaches in the straps. I wasn't as fully powered as I like, but I was definitely catching an adequate amount of wind. From then on, however, the winds abated and fit into the middle of the 10 to 20 range predicted by NOAA. At that point I had to give up the idea of doing much planing. In fact, I caught a few, brief gusts and got in the straps, but soon after ended up back slogging. It was definitely a kiter's afternoon. I remain sceptical about the forecasting now, but am keeping in shape for a big day. The funny thing was that I read a report on a kiting forum by a guy I've gotten to know down at the beach. He exaggerated the winds for the day. I thought he may have just confused those of the early afternoon which might have been like those I found at 2 or 3 with the whole afternoon for in fact he was on the beach for long lengths of time when I was out. However, he insisted that I was wrong and my meter of no use. Do these guys have an attitude or what? Is this generational? |

maybe the wind was better off the water surface a little, where the kite was. I've never kited so I don't know if thats possible, just guessing. _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

Brucie, some would say that you're the King of Attitude. (Maybe that should be "Queen.")

Obviously not, since you're redefining the concept of "senior citizen" and you certainly display an attitude.
