I'd take the money that I save on that spiffy new '08 Nash gear and put it towards living my life WITHOUT the high stress job, the super-sized house (Mc Mansion) along with the super-sized mortgage, the super-sized V-8 gas pig 4x4 SUV along with the super-sized insurance premium to go towards all of the above.

No thanks .... I'm perfectly happy with my dilapidated cream-puff Gorge board that I paid $250 15 years ago, along with a lifestyle that gives me all the freedom I could ever dream of to go out and enjoy the sport of windsurfing in my own backyard.

Most millionaires have ordinary incomes; they got rich by living within their means. And I'll bet only a small percent of millionaires are as rich as people who can realize their passions, with or without lots of money.

Yeah, we're way off topic. But what the hell ... it's a crappy subject anyway. I'm going to WS as long as I can, and all I care about kiters or hikers or bridge players is that they don't screw with my swell, my food, or my sleep.

I think we're on topic here (KB vs. WS).... the reason I dropped KBing was it just wasn't enough BANG for the buck.... get much better mileage WSing on my old skool gear here in the Gorge, don't need the new stuff... otoh, need new stuff for KBing. Also, ask most KB'ers and they'll say the same thing.... kiting isn't that great here in the Gorge compared to other places because there so very few launch sites that work well for KBing.

notice I said.... "I'd take"....not I'd spend the $$$ retail, or wholesale, or 25% below wholesale, or team rider use now, give back in Oct deals....
Always a good idea to give a completely unskilled novice a helium balloon to practice lofting. Maybe an eject cockpit with failsafe parachutes, a triple comforter padding setup, and lots of medical insurance.
On another note, I was considering buyng my first boom and mast in the last 7 years. Maybe a HPL aluminum + '08 X6 ??

It used to be a person was cool because they excelled at something unique and difficult. Now the baby boomers have taught us that it's all about being cool without any wasted effort. You buy it, or talk it, or wear it on your sleeve. Certainly don't work for it, and you especially do not deserve it. In the end, you are not 'it'.

Most of my girlfriends gave up skiing for boarding because they were useless intermediates. They took the easy way out. I had a couple of extreme sport ho-friends that did the same thing with windsurfing. They were equally useless and went into kiting. Like me they also voiced some concern about the not so cool windsurfing crowd (geezers). They really didn't get the whole point. They never concerned themselves with having fun or enjoying the environment. They just wanted to be cool. I still never see them smile when they are partaking in these bubble-gum sports. Lots of wannabes also think they are surfers, and put that activity into their on-line dating ads and Facebook when they have not gone once.

I have kept up with windsurfing and have done well, and I have no intention of quitting. I have a variety of gybes, and some freestyle moves that I keep working on, and I think that is the key to furthering the interest. The one gybe hero thing is over. You dudes have to work on your stuff before you get bored and try to hang with all the little girls and goatees and make asses of yourselves there. I imagine Jesusjones will try kiting on his 40th or 41st crisisday. He will probably show up on the sandbar with a bandanna on his head, all jacked up on Viagra and roids, and end up doing a Taz and tearing his kite to pieces in frustration. Maybe he will sink as a 250lb nylon and spectra wrapped gift to the sea monster.

Baby boomers? I thought they were the ones who, as "kids", worked hard to buy the old '56 Chev and then worked even harder to "tweak it out". Shocked

Wake Boarding has ruined the hell out of waterskiing. When you have a river full of those A Holes with the "my wake is bigger than yours" boats you ain't going to do any waterskiing, or at least I'm not. You can't even go for a good boat ride unless you've got a 25' Cigarette boat, when those bozos are out running around in circles.

And that's how I feel about that.

Looks like I'm missing the best wind at the west end today eh? WMP?
