I disagree very strongly with that. A big organized event is special and rare (if it's a weekly local thing, never mind). Its organizers and competitors and spectators -- even the town of Hood River -- have much more at stake (e.g., money, trophies, sponsorships, careers, future events) than some self-centered interloper who busts through the playing field vs going around it. Interrupting an event like that is the height of conceit in my book, beyond arrogance and well into "F You" territory, considering its potential impact on everyone there. They would be justifiably arrested in many kinds of sporting events.

What Edwardz said
Being a windsurfer I would never be able tell any of my friends that I did something that inconsiderate to fellow sailors. I have to wonder why you made this post on this board |

I think Lance answers very well the common question, "Why can't we all just get along?"

Not a good idea to post stoned or drunk or both. |
I TOTALLY disagree!!! It's the ONLY way to post!! PREFERABLY using both AND "other"!! It makes the posts SO much more interesting!! |

In several years I've never seen a kayak go through there. Seems like a one time mistake/inconvenience. I don't know why anyone would want to sail there the busy 2 months of the year or why people dont go upwind or downwind a couple hundred yards for less crowded waters. But it does make for good entertainment from shore. |

These photos in context of this thread.....are like kayaks peddling through the heart of the Hatchery. They reflect our self absorbed, self indulgent, look at me mentality. Nothing against you Eileen, your photos are quite nice, but the parallel to Mr. RWRIGHT is clear. Whether intentionally or not, you both hijack the flow of the moment for a self-gratifying whim. All of us have done this....What's revealing about the original post is the sense on entitlement and our reflexive way of blaming others....when challenged. |

Too complicated, too limiting. Other things to do. |
Not about windsurfing?? Heck, the Stoner Ohana probably ARE windsurfers AND surfers!!

If it had been the second or third post, I might have agreed a little with Edward. As it is, this thread has run its course, the OP is probably driving his vintage Ford Model T at 40mph down the I-5, and I really enjoyed your photos. That's a beautiful spot, and you have a really good eye! Thanks for sharing! |

Yeah, actually, I think the harsh and uncivil comments to Eilene were just as rude as running kayaks through the pack on a busy day at the Hatch or cursing out the kayakers for doing same. Eilene was just being nice. Sounds like the Gorge could use a little more Aloha. Perhaps the Stoner Ohana could help things. |
