I'm hoping it arrives a bit early, otherwise, it's rig down in the dark.

where's a good place to sail in winds like this? I am in San luis Obispo, and i have never sailed in south winds(just moved here). Wondering if jalama, or arroyo laguna would be any good? |

I have a feeling it will be a SB Channel clearing winds day on Sunday. IV? C-St? We shall see.
Boardsports- If it's south or southwest, I wouldn't bother with Jalama. It will be onshore and BIG crunching waves. But if it turns WNW and you like giant waves, I might see you up there Sunday.

Is it gonna blow in OC or LA sometime this weekend? These south winds suck.....they seem to die out by early morning. |

Hi Kevin,
From information that WillV sent me yesterday evening, it's predicted that a very large swell will arrive this weekend and then gradually fade through early next week. The only thing that's coloring the situation to the downside are the predicted south/southeast gale force winds and rain. Still, sooner or later there's a good chance that the wind direction will swing around west/northwest. I guess we just need to wait and see. |

Hi Steve! Still considering the April clinic?
Storm sailing tomorrow, but.....
NOAA says: SUN...W WINDS 10 TO 20 KT WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO 25 KT for the SB Channel area. In regards to the classic WNW clearing winds, NOAA always seems to wait until the last minute (i.e. maybe Sat night) to post the "20-25 gusts to 30" kind of forecast. Looking at the satellite, there's a lot of cold air and a decent high behind the Saturday storm. Sure seems good, but I've been very wrong before!!!!
And yes, I've heard the waves are supposed to be huge. I'm hoping for a really windy IV day since the surf should be firing in there!!!
Hey Alex- think about coming on up!!! I've got small sails you can borrow if needed....and let's hope we all need 'em!!!!
