Hey Iso,

Why are you and Mallard Fillmore always ripping on the post office? It seems off base and mean spirited.

I, for one, am hoping that under Hillarycare that all vaccinations will be conducted at the P.O. - "Give me a book of the liberty bell stamps and my Hep C booster please."

WTF??? How about providing the footnotes? All I know is that with Blue Shield, I was paying $12,000 per year for catastrophic insurance coverage for a healthy family of 3. That is, $3000 deductible per person before I see any benefits other than the negociated rate I get from the care provider.

I still don't know who you are, try signing your name .

I beleive you have watched thousands of hours of faux news. I don't beleive that you have double checked with other sources.
Fox news is continually blasting so called left wing bias. Anything that resembles some truths about our corupt government is considered left wing bias.
Tell me , if you know so much, how many Iraqis raped, murdered , mutilated, tortured by Americans in the name of FREEDOM. Why did we support Irag in the war against Iran, when we knew they were using chemical weapons against their civilians. Anything that might sound unpatriotic will not be mentioned on Fox news.
This is right wing crap, owned by Rupert Murdoch , who wants more control of the media , to fill the weak minds of America.

You have to be about the only windsurfer on the internet who doesn't know much of the following about "Isobars":
Michael Fick
102004 E. Vaca Rd.
Kennewick, WA
509-628-9579
64 years old, windsurfing since 1980.
Retired from the U.S.A.F. in 1988 to WS full time, mostly in the Gorge.
Moved to the Gorge area in 1999.
Totally non-political and embarrassingly ignorant of politics until mid-90s, have spent many thousands of hours since then studying it.
Realized in the late '90s that a) I'm right of center on all the issues most important to me [e.g., national security, individual freedoms, tolerance, smaller government, low taxes, capitalism, strong opposition to socialism, thinking with my head rather than my heart (I'm an engineer and a scientist)] and b) votes for independents are wasted, so joined the Republican Party in the early 2000's.
Base every political opinion on personal values and facts, not party affiliation.
Outspoken critic of many Bush policies, to the point I consistently refuse in voice and writing the GOP's requests for donations (and give my reasons to them).
I don't take kindly to being called a liar, because I do not lie. I absolutely do try to verify most of what I hear from any news, news analysis, and/or talk radio source before believing it or repeating it. I've been writing professionally in science, medicine, management, and research budgets for over 40 years, and am careful about what web sources and books I use in my research.

That enough about me?

"How many Iraqis raped, murdered, mutilated, tortured by Americans in the name of freedom"? Easy: Not one. The few dozen who were raped, murdered, mutilated, and tortured were the victims of a couple of dozen miscreants in uniform out of several hundred thousand soldiers, and not "in the name of freedom". The DoD was investigating most of these cases before the press got wind of them, and have punished most of the guilty.

You obviously read blogs and web sites and far left newspapers ABOUT Fox News rather than actually WATCHING Fox News. News accuracy research BY THE LEFT, actually WATCHING Fox News, British soldiers in Iraq preferring Fox over the BBC, the BBC's own admission that it is biased Left, Fox News' strong criticism every day of Bush and his administration, Fox's near-total dominance of cable news viewership, and many other sources prove that the Fox News channel is very centrist. And, oh yes ... Rupert Murdoch is a strong supporter, in word, deed, and hard cash, of the Clintons.

OTOH, who do you think owns most big city U.S. newspapers (e.g., NYT, WA Post, Seattle PI, San Francisco whatever, LAT) but self-avowed, often radical, Leftists?

You're being had by your Lefty wing "news" sources, Eric. Try verifying their schpiel now and then. EVERY time I see O'Reilly blast media bias, he backs it up with video, published text, and/or guest analysts from both sides. He's being recorded and studied by hundreds of networks, politicians, columnists, web sites, bloggers, ACLU lawyers, judges, governors, agencies, and individuals in the hopes of bringing him down; that it ain't happened yet tells me an awful lot bout the research he does. And when he compares what media detractors SAY he said with his actual broadcast archives, the media lies are blatant, rampant, and never-ending.

Do yourself a favor some time: watch O'Reilly and Hume for a week and get back to us. (Hannity & Colmbes is mostly a stupid shouting match, but does present hard left and hard right points of view for our evaluation.)

And, please ... stop getting your "news" from O'Donnell, Olbermann, Sheen, Letterman, Penn, Pelley, Moore, Clooney, etc; it's not befitting to someone who can string several complete sentences together.

Just spent the whole day looking for insurance for my daughter.
The system is just plain dishonest.

I won't go into all the details.

But here's just one example and this is with Blue Shield.
So each brochure for each plan is 16 pages 7 of whick are wasted on those crap "lifestyle" photos of people looking oh so happy.
Where ever possible abreveations are used to make things more cryptic.

When I asked for a list of covered proceedures I was told that they don't supply that untill you have been aproved and have been aproved and you have paid and are covered. They did tell me to refer to the non covered items list in the brochure.
That was of absolutly no help and basicly bullshit because the 5th item on the list was as follows:

"Services and supplies not listed as covered under this policy".

So basicly without having access to this list I don't know what the hell I am buying!!!!

So I called the office of the California Insurance commisioner.
Guess what there is not a law that says health insurers have to tell you what proceedures they cover and what they don't before you sign their contract.

One other example of good old American health Care Bullshit is the policy a friend of mine was given by his employer that is policy carried by one of the three big insurers.
Basicly regarding hospital coverage there is a maximum of $ 10,000 which is already low, but what is worse it only covers the "hotel" part of hospitalization and covers no medical, diagnostic or surgical services. No X-rays ...nothing. Basicly to reach the $10,000 of "hotel" part of hospitalization you would have had to spend close to 300,000 out of pocket medical services.

It took some concentrated reading and 4 calls to the insurance company to finally get a supervisor that confimed what I had figured out.

Hey if you think this system works your crazy!!!

Check out the demographics of those without medical insurance. Of the 47 million uninsured persons in America,
12.6 million are foreign-born (including 10.2 million who are non-citizens.)
8.5 million live in households earning $50,000 - $74,999 per year.
9.3 million more live in households with > $75,000 in earnings and simply prefer to spend it elsewhere.
Of the remaining 16.6 million americans who cannot afford health insurance, 10-14 million are already eligible for existing programs they don’t bother to sign up for.
The remaining few million, about 10% of the 47M, include college kids who don’t want it, leaving even fewer who really can’t afford it.
Most of those got that way by choosing drugs, dropping out of school, and/or not working … yet many of those still have toys I don’t have.

You left out one very important detail.
Of all those so called insured people you talk about the vast majority are effectivly very under covered thanks to all the loop holes in the contracts.
Not to mention that most of these people will see their insurance become impossibly expensive once they become ill as their premiums will sky rocket as soon as they have made any significant claims.

I have a friend who was prescribed an anti depresant and a drug against momentaty black outs that incidently are a side effect of the anti depressant. He was told that his premium had gone up because of his history. it is now way beyond what he can afford. However he scince joined a union in the entertainment industry and is now covered through them by the same f&*king insurer and at no additional cost compared to his co workers....

FredBgg - Have you checked out Tonik from Blue Cross? It is good, afordable, basic medical coverage for young adults. Both my kids have it and I think it's about $180 for 3 months.
