This will not directly answer your question, but I used to windsurf outside Bozeman Montana. There is a small but dedicated sailing group there that put up some local sensors at 3 lakes of interest. 1) Ennis Lake - typically light winds for large board trolling around. 2) Daily Lake - gets moderate to high winds in the valley north of Yellowstone Park. 3) I beleive they had sensors at Canyon Ferry as well (never sailed there). In addition I have talked with people that have sailed Yellowstone lake (only for those die-hard cold water sailors).
Of these daily lake was a worthy spot to visit. Relatively small lake, and cold in early summer, but winds were good for fast planing. I met one group that sailed daily lake after dark with glow-sticks tied to the masts so they did not run into eachother. Sounded like they had a great time but soon realized going full speed they would not see a person already down in the water so they gave it up early...
These are not windsurf destinations, but if passing through you can get on the water...
Not sure if it still exists, but to find out more look up second hand sports equipment in Bozeman. If you get the right one the owners can put you in contact with the local windsurf group/info. |
