There are a few other places showing a possibility of wind according to IWindsurf computer model, for instance Eastern Point shows 20's late in the day. There is a great spot for S winds/waves near there- Good Harbor Beach. But I don't trust the models. NWS and Wind Guru show less than 10 all weekend. I'm going to take a I'll-believe-it-when-I-see-it approach. _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

It's 15-20 at Eastern Point and 0 on Cape Cod & Fogland! The weather is upside down.
I'm going to check back in the afternoon, maybe get out late in the day at Good Harbor, or Nahant, if some wind happens. They're a relatively short drive for me. _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

I live in Gloucester and have been windurfing for 25+ years. Eastern Point meter easily reads 5knots+ higher than reality. If it says 20 its 15 on the water. The meter is at least 50' or more up. Niles is so gusty in a westerly its not worth it, directly onshore. Good Harbor really needs a SE to work well otherwise its on shore with shore break or really gusty since its blocked by Bass Rocks in a south or Brier Neck/Salt Island in a NE. Just fyi. |

Great info, thanks! It's been about 15 years since I've sailed at Good Harbor. I remembered that it got good waves but wasn't sure which direction was best, this info helps. _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

The other thing about Niles and Good Harbor are the summer crowds which means no windsurfing during the daytime. Just like Wingaersheek.
BTW, being an experienced kiter too, anyone who tries that at Niles is a damn fool! Accident waiting to happen as I see it. |
