I hear Varadero had some decent rentals. Varadero is around 2 hours drive from Havana, and totally worth it. It is big though, and I can't tell which club is renting. Perhaps, Ray might know, since he is from Matanzas and that's very near Varadero and some of his mates might even be the renting staff in Varadero. At least have the right contacts.
In Havana the only place I know is in Santa Maria beach. It took a lot of asking until I found it in the Atlantic club (Hotel Atlantico) they have one or two (bit up) windsurfing equipment.
It is unfortunate, because I know Cuba would be a great w/surfing place where the trade winds meet shore at their strongest steadily from north east for great rip w/surfing and when the wind switch from the south you'll probably have the best flat water surfing.
Have fun (and a cigar),
Raf. |

Friends who sail on boats in that area have told me there are "dangerously high winds in some spots in the northwest coast." |

hahahah...WHAT?????
hahaha... Yesss i know a lot of the windsurf people there... but you guys have to know more about Cuba's issues. and also yes.. legally i was from Matanzas city but my father is and still live in Varadero beach as the 50% of my family...
Let me see how I explain this...
The situation in Cuba all of you most have an idea about it.. but something very basic is that where the majority of people have a lot of needs (needs of everything.. but also of windsurfing gears) there will always be some others over there and in every place... that by having just a little bit of anything more than the majority... it will use this to take advantage over the others (but that's not new in this world and is nothing exclusive from cuba) ... -AND DON'T CONFUSE YOURSELF- more anticommunism or antisocialism than me,it haven't born yet!.. just in case the above sound a little "RED"
Let me say it clear and with all the words...
Because the extra income of mostly all of those that live and "work" in Varadero beach (due to the huge tourism level) ... I can tell you being 100% honest, that a big number of this people are (humanity speaking) disgusting... On the specific case of the windsurfers there (I won't say all... but is close) there are this typical asshole that all that he cares is showing thyself and.................................................
you know what?... I just realize this will take a lot of writing... those who really wants to know... I will honored to open a little more you mind about that saying that we have in Cuba "Not all that it shine is gold"
just give me a damn call(just in weekends) and lets show you the real Cuba... 917-621-6245 |
