STOLEN TABOU BOARD

Hey folks, Last night my brand new 2008 87L Tabou 3S was stolen off the roof of my car in the Presidio. It's white with a green decal of a mermaid chick with flowing hair and perky boobs (hey, blame the designers). I'm crushed as this was the only board not yet on my renter's policy. If you see it turning up in a suspicious place let me know ASAP at abisailf@earthlink.net. Thanks and let's all look out for one another.

ugh that's awful. I live in the Presidio too, but I keep my gear in the car.

Did you leave it on your roof every night, or was it a freak thing?

dear presidio resident. I kept my board on top of my car for almost 6 years. there has been a rash of car break ins along Washington Blvd where I live. they look for unlocked doors so be careful and warn your neighbors.

Sorry to hear about your board. You would think that if any place was safe. It would be the Presidio.
It'll turn up. Once they realize its not a surfboard and that no one wants it. They will try to sell it on CL.

Do you have the serial number of the board? If not, check your sales receipt which might have it.

Insurance or not, make sure you file a police report with a serial number of the board.

Friends of mine got their boards stolen from roof racks. The boards were later recovered by cops in a different city. This only happened because they had the serial number.

Cops don't bother searching on general descriptions. They advised us that reporting the serial number of a stolen item is your best chance at finding it in their system, especially when it ends up in another jurisdiction. If you want to protect an item that doesn't have a serial number then engrave an identifying number on it, record it, and take a photo.
