Hi,

Does anyone know what the approx. water temp is for Great South Bay, Long Island, right now? Or, anyone know of a way to find out, without going down there, that is.
I want to go sailing but the warmest wet suit I have is a steamer. Is it warm enough for that, or are drysuits still the call?

thanks,
DG

I was in the water for 3 hrs Saturday at Hampton Beach NH and 3 hrs Sunday in Boston, wearing a 3/2 short-sleeved suit with a dry top, boots but no gloves or hood. LI must be a lot warmer than NH. You should be fine.

Go to www. weatherunderground.com and click on "Marine" for water temps and marine weather forecast for anywhere in the US. This is fairly accurate for water temps. In general, water temps are in the upper 40's to low 50's in the sound and along the coast. You'll probably be OK in a steamer.

Was out at Tobay Sunday 20th for a few hours in 3/2 and boots. No gloves or hood. Was warm entire time.
