I can't even drive my little Subaru butt-rocket on the mainland as it was designed to be driven; what on earth does one do with 600 hp on Maui? Wink

Winding canyon roads with no top was the idea but you saw the flaw in my plan right away. Too much power for a 2300 lb car even with race car suspension and 12 in wide tires. I started racing SCCA and it was too powerful for that also. Your WRX has balance and a decent ride, acceptable noise level, outruns Corvettes, gets decent milage, etc.
Cobra attracted women in bikinis.
I learned my lesson.Yessirree.I took the profit and bought a slantnose Porsche 911 with a 400 HP Chevrolet 350 V8 mounted in back together with Marc Lefebvre. We are gonna hold the mods to 450 hp max. Stored it until I go back to Maui. My next free car.

My WRX is a hatchback, i.e., a wagon. Any women it attracts got no business wearing bikinis. Wink

I drive a Subaru Forrester which, apparently, is a magnet for women in comfortable shoes. So I've been told.

keycocker,
A 450hp V8 in a 911? That's got to be about the stupidest, most dangerous, pin-headed concept anyone's had since the 12th grade. I must know more!

Did you do it yourself? Any links or pics? Can you negotiate a turn at an intersection without swapping ends?

Mike

I just bought it in Nov. in the Maui News.
www.renegadehybrids.com
These guys built mine in 1990. Oddly enough a 1989 Porsche turbo motor weighs the same as a Chevy 350 and more than a Chevy LS1 Aluminum 350 which costs about US$1500 used. Rebuilding the Porsche motor cost maybe $10K
Most of these conversions also get race car suspension mods same time so in general they handle better than the donor car.
For the WRX crowd they have a Subaru conversion
