So here are a couple of things pro and con.
pro:
1. you can get your spouse to rig for you and schlep your gear (rowena).
2. you don't have to justify time spent away from home on the water.
3. you don't argue about where to go on vacation except for maybe which place has the best wind.
4. you are BOTH too tired to have sex after windsurfing.
con:
1. if you have kids then one has to stay home while the other windsurfs.
2. you need twice the gear.
3. you can't call home and ask the spouse to turn on the jacuzzi so that it's ready when you get home.
4. dinner won't be ready when you get home.
5. you need a huge vehicle to carry all the gear.
6. you can't check out other hot windsurfers.
This is a nonsensical, non-political post intended to solicitate humor and a good time. Therefore, there will be no name calling, character assignation, or maiming of anykind. |

pro:
1. you can get your spouse to rig for you and schlep your gear (rowena)
Or is it the other way around?
3. you don't argue about where to go on vacation except for maybe which place has the best wind.
what if she loves the waves and you're scared of them?
4. you are BOTH too tired to have sex after windsurfing.
...and this is supposed to be a GOOD thing????
con:
1. if you have kids then one has to stay home while the other windsurfs.
hey, having kids kills windsurfing... the windsurfing couples i know who have kids sail way more than the windsurfers w/ non-windsurfing wives and kids
2. you need twice the gear.
or you can share quivers... and if the wind changes, maybe only one person has to re-rig
3. you can't call home and ask the spouse to turn on the jacuzzi so that it's ready when you get home.
that's what timers are for!
4. dinner won't be ready when you get home.
this could be a mixed blessing depending on the culinary skills of your spouse
5. you need a huge vehicle to carry all the gear.
...and you don't need one already just for yourself?
6. you can't check out other hot windsurfers.
that's what sunglasses are for |

pro:
1. you can get your spouse to rig for you and schlep your gear (rowena).
I don't trust my wife rigging for me and to top it off I have to de-rig her gear.
2. you don't have to justify time spent away from home on the water.
But I have to stick around behind the windline 'cause she doesn't waterstart yet
3. you don't argue about where to go on vacation except for maybe which place has the best wind.
But you argue because she wants to go shopping around after sailing because we are also "on vacation"
4. you are BOTH too tired to have sex after windsurfing.
Or worse, you have to have sex although you are too tired
con:
1. if you have kids then one has to stay home while the other windsurfs.
Coming up soon
2. you need twice the gear.
I can share a couple of sails
3. you can't call home and ask the spouse to turn on the jacuzzi so that it's ready when you get home.
Yeah right, when I get back home the list of things to do to make up for the sailing time doesn't incude jacuzzy
4. dinner won't be ready when you get home.
Not something I'm looking forward to
5. you need a huge vehicle to carry all the gear.
The wife usually fits in the roof rack (nose down)
6. you can't check out other hot windsurfers.
So, where did you say you windsurf? |

My wife doesn't windsurf nor do my kids, however in order to keep all of the forces of the universe in harmony, I bought a travel-trailer last year. I can rig my own sails, spend as much time as I want sailing, no one complains about getting cold or bored sitting around while dad has all the fun, there are no good looking girls anywhere near where I sail (the reason why my wife was so happy about my transition from surfing to windsurfing) The kids can ride their bikes and skateboards around everyone is happy! ..........wait a minute, so the kids are having fun, the wife is checking out the windsurfers while I on the water, no one is cooking, no hot tub,no girls for me to check it out,no food, i spent a ton of money on the damm trailer...........shit! |

You have got to teach her waterstart ASAP. |

pro:
1. you can get your spouse to rig for you and schlep your gear (rowena).
I wouldn't trust anyone but myself to touch my own gear
2. you don't have to justify time spent away from home on the water.
That's why I windsurf: to spend time away from home!!!
3. you don't argue about where to go on vacation except for maybe which place has the best wind.
Don't have money for big fancy vacations anyway so we're not taking any... well...except for an annual "Mommy-time in the Gorge". But that's different right???
4. you are BOTH too tired to have sex after windsurfing.
Having sex??? What's that???
con:
1. if you have kids then one has to stay home while the other windsurfs.
That's what husbands are for, right???
2. you need twice the gear.
Uh...I have three times the gear already?
3. you can't call home and ask the spouse to turn on the jacuzzi so that it's ready when you get home.
That's why you have friends who have jacuzzis
4. dinner won't be ready when you get home.
Never heard of "take out"???
5. you need a huge vehicle to carry all the gear.
Yeah, well, got that already for my multiple quivers...
6. you can't check out other hot windsurfers.
Checking hot windsurfers...THAT'S my no. 1 PRO!!!!!!!! (But don't tell my husband ) |

A recurring conversation with the wife who used to sail (harness/straps-no gybe); Me; honey, why don't you sail with me? Her; you won't sail with me, you go sailing off somewhere else. Me; that's because you go downwind and I don't want to go there. End of conversation. We've had this discussion many times, usually in those exact words.

That seems to be the big issue with windsurfing AND having a family, some members are prone to concluding that you windsurf because you want to get away from them. Indeed, getting away is part of the joy, but it's about getting away from everything: work, worries, indoor rooms... and people who have a habit of asking you to do things for them... |
