A clinic report was requested so here goes-
Lousy weather, (except for some good wind on Sunday afternoon), good clinic. Petra is an excellent teacher.
A lot of the clinic focused on improving or learning basic technique since most of the participants were beginner/intermediate types. It was a mix of indoor teaching and demonstrating, using a simulator set-up, and on-the-water practice and feedback. It was perfect for my family because we have all different levels.
The lighthouse Inn, pre-lifeguard season, is a very nice location for a windsurfing trip.
For a few photos, more details than you want-

scooper,
Great picture of the duck jibe!
We need to arrange to get the board to you if you want it.

I have a question for scooper: how the heck did you "join" in 1987??? There was no WWW back then (at least in the current form) - I doubt iWindsurf existed!!!
If you are into light-wind freestyle, we should definitely join forces. There are a couple other people who work on LW freestyle in p-bay, it's nice to have others there as learning happens much quicker that way. |

That's a good blog there, Scooper, for anyone who wants to read exclusively about board sailing. The pics are good, too. |

npiankov-
I'm not sure that 1987 is accurate for my membership. I did join when it was just 1 guy with a few wind meters, the Wind Hotline, but it doesn't seem like it was 20 years ago. It was all done by phone in the prehistoric days. It could be right. I started windsurfing in 1986. But I'm not really that old. It must be some trick of time.
It would be great to have some company for light air freestyle at Pleasure Bay sometime. It's a good place for it- super flat water. I'll be on Block Island this weekend. I hope you get some great sailing in here! |
