great news we the people will get to find out the specifics to trump covering up his fing a porn star when he had a new child at home, where cohen already admitted his part for his former boss. Funny when Cohen testified and admitted he lied for trump, trump did not say his testimony was a lie and have the justice department go after him for perjury. He could have testified that Cohen was lying again which would have been a much longer sentence. Not sure why this is never pointed out in any media.

Donald Trump loses request to delay Manhattan hush money trial pending location change request

Quote:
ANew York appeals judge on Monday rejected former President Donald Trump's emergency effort to delay his upcoming hush money trial until a decision was made on his request to move the case out of Manhattan.

Trump is scheduled to face trial April 15 on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who says she had a sexual encounter with the real estate mogul. Trump denies Daniels' claim and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Trump reimbursed his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, for the October, 2016 hush money payment and caused the Trump Organization to falsely record the purpose of the reimbursement payments as "legal services," according to prosecutors. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee is charged with felonies rather than misdemeanors because prosecutors allege Trump violated federal campaign finance laws and was trying to violate New York election and tax laws when he falsified the records.

I have to point out once again, that the alleged crime here is misrepresenting
where the payments came from, not Trump's infidelity, nor his status as a
new father, nor Daniel's profession, nor the fact that she was paid not to
disclose information. What was likely illegal was how Trump and his
organization represented where the money came from. For example,
if the money came from donations toward his presidential campaign, it
would be illegal for him to use that money to contract a CDA. If "Hush
Money" were illegal, all the NDAs operating to protect Proprietary
Information would also be illegal.

p.s. Personally, I believe convicted felons should be appropriately
punished, but it is the place of our Judicial System to decide that,
not mine.

p.p.s. unless I'm on that jury ;*)

yes the crimes being charged are tax related issues as you say. Just like they never caught mob bosses selling the drugs and such generally they were put on trial for tax issues.

this thread is who is stormy daniels, not trump crimes. Stormy is a hero and has so much courage to come out against billionaire who is the most litigious person in the USA. And it is important so important that the details be given in court as the pediophile former impeached scum has said he never met her, she is not his type and so on. It is important to show on the record that she told the truth that he was fing her while he had a newborn. Though most right-wingers if not all on this forum do not care as they obviously love pediophiles.

If Stormy had not ripped up her confidentiality as I believe that was another badge of courage, we would NOT have this case being held. Cohen would not have been jailed and come clean. She is a badge of courage.

Here is another female that was found in similar circumstances that gave backing to her claims same MO.

Former Playboy model Karen McDougal defends her decision to tell her story of her alleged relationship with Donald Trump, and said she doesn’t want to damage him. Trump has been charged by the Manhattan District Attorney in an hush-payment case involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Some case watchers say that McDougal's allegations could be part of the indictment.

Yes exactly.

I believe your point is that Trump is a philanderer (I doubt even
Trump supporters would argue that), but it seems to be confabulated with
the alleged Trump Crimes that are emboldened herein. Philandry is not the
issue in the "trump-loses-request-to-delay-manhattan-hush-money-trial-
pending-location-change-request" Misrepresentation (and possibly
misappropriation) of funds is the issue (which may or may not be relevant to
the subject matter of this thread).

I also agree that Ms. Clifford has been bold indeed. Ms. Mcdougal as well.

actually the payoff shows trump believed the right wingers did not know he was a philanderer. And right wingers still do not believe he did. Cohens lawyer even said this today at the end of this clip.

There's one piece of evidence that will make that Manhattan jury convict Trump in a New York minute

Criminal trials can often be a bit like popularity contests. Each attorney will strive to be liked, trusted and respected by the jury. In a sense, each attorney will want to be the most popular in the eyes of the jury. But even more importantly is how the jury views the defendant. Does the defendant come across as likely, trustworthy, honorable?

There is one piece of evidence that was disclosed more than a year ago in the Statement of Facts that accompanied the Indictment that will make Donald Trump the most unpopular person in the entire courtroom.
In fact, this one piece of evidence could very well lead the jury to convict Trump in a New York minute.

This video discusses that piece of evidence, as well as Trump's latest loss in his efforts to delay his trial from starting on Monday, 4/15.

oh boy huge showing as trump predicted... only 50 of his loonies showed up to protest...

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/significant-trump-protest-fails-materialize-ny-rcna147982?

Significant pro-Trump protest fails to materialize in N.Y. (again)

Quote:
On Friday, with the first day of Donald Trump’s first criminal trial looming, the former president’s political operation predictably sent out a fundraising appeal to supporters. The message appeared designed to generate some excitement, with a headline that read, “72 hours until all hell breaks loose.”

Three days later, all hell did not break loose. NBC News reported on the developments in the park across the street from the New York City courthouse. Inside the building, the preliminary steps in the former president’s trial got underway, but outside, “peculiarity reigned over pedantry.”

A smattering of pro-Trump demonstrators — some wearing costumes, others carrying signs, one temporarily lowering the top of her dinosaur-themed one-piece before writhing on the ground in performative ecstasy — lent their support to Trump, the former president and presumptive Republican nominee.

The Daily Beast published a related report under a headline that read, “Trump Wanted to See Crowd Outside Trial. He Got 50 Randos.”

The article noted that protestors supporting the presumptive GOP nominee “were easily outnumbered by the phalanx of reporters and police.” One Trump supporter was quoted saying, “I thought more people would be here.”

It’s likely that the former president did, too.

In fact, circling back to our earlier coverage, as Trump’s post-defeat legal woes intensified, his rhetoric about his supporters taking to the streets grew louder. In January 2022, for example, amidst speculation about possible indictments, the Republican said at a rally that if he were to face charges, “I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protests we have ever had.”

In September 2022, Trump delivered a related ominous message, saying that if he were indicted, the United States would face “problems ... the likes of which perhaps we’ve never seen.”

The vague predictions turned into directives last year. In March 2023, as the former president prepared for an indictment in New York, he turned to his social media platform, writing, “PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” In case that was too subtle, Trump added a few hours later, “IT’S TIME!!! ... WE JUST CAN’T ALLOW THIS ANYMORE. ... WE MUST SAVE AMERICA! PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!”

Around the same time, the Republican derided talk of “peaceful” demonstrations, while suggesting that if he were indicted in New York, it might cause “potential death [and] destruction” that “could be catastrophic for our Country.”

Though it seemed as if Trump envisioned mass groups of red-capped followers taking to the streets, those calls were largely ignored. Some supporters turned out in Manhattan around the time of his first arrest, but the gatherings were, by any fair measure, underwhelming duds.

lawyers tend to be right wingers from my experience,2 on one jury? and one person on social media follows trump. witness intimidation knocked out at least one.
and lawyers on the right seem in general from my experience to be very dis-honest morally ie like trump so not good news to have them on the jury..

will be interesting. only takes one for a hung jury.
