fire the trump loyalists in the FBI that would not do their job....

'Bullying worked': Experts blast FBI after bombshell report reveals agents were 'afraid' to raid Mar-a-Lago

Quote:

Legal experts are blasting the Federal Bureau of Investigation after a bombshell Washington Post exclusive report reveals some FBI agents were “afraid” to raid Mar-a-Lago and some wanted to simply shut down the criminal investigation, delaying for months the retrieval of classified documents that Donald Trump had unlawfully retained and refusal to return.

“Months of disputes between Justice Department prosecutors and FBI agents over how best to try to recover classified documents from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and residence led to a tense showdown near the end of July last year,” The Post reports.

“Prosecutors ultimately prevailed in that dispute,” and the “FBI conducted an unprecedented raid on Aug. 8, recovering more than 100 classified items, among them a document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including its nuclear capabilities.”

Two senior FBI officials wanted to ask Trump’s permission to go to Mar-a-Lago to search the ex-president’s resort and residence, despite having video evidence that appeared to show a trove of presidential documents being moved from a storage room after Trump was directed to return the items, including classified documents, that had been taken from the White House.

Foreign policy and intelligence expert John Sipher, who spent 28 years in the CIA’s National Clandestine Service, said in response to the Post’s report, “Trump bullying worked.”

oted national security attorney Brad Moss, a frequent political commentator, observed: “This extensive piece once again makes clear a simple fact: the FBI, traumatized from the Trump era assaults on it, treated Trump with kid gloves.”

Criminal law professor Carissa Byrne Hessick said The Post’s story “confirms not only that the FBI is applying different (and more favorable) standards to Trump’s potentially criminal behavior, but also that this deference can be traced in part to Trump’s repeated attacks against the FBI.”

The Washington Post’s Tom Jackman, who runs the paper’s “True Crime” blog, tweeted, “Timid and conservative FBI agents did not want to search Mar-a-Lago for classified docs, led by DC SAC Steven D’Antuono, who said ‘We’re not the presidential records police.'”

USA Today opinion columnist Michael J. Stern observed, “Trump keeps getting away with it because law enforcement keeps letting him.”

Attorney, legal and national security analyst, and former FBI special agent Asha Marie Rangappa leveled perhaps the heaviest criticism: “The FBI has a problem, and it’s coming from inside the house.

FBI actually argued with prosecutors they believed trump even though there was evidence he still had materials. he biggest liar in the world. and they believe him. They knew he lied about Obamas birth certificate... and yet the FBI agents wanted to close the case.

Lawrence: Why were some FBI agents 'inclined to believe Trump'?

Quote:
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell analyzes new Washington Post reporting describing conflict between Justice Dept. prosecutors and FBI agents over how to handle the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation, including some FBI agents reportedly telling prosecutors they were inclined to believe Trump and his lawyers who said they had returned all government documents and no search of Mar-a-Lago was necessary.

Ex-FBI supervisory agent arrested on Capitol riot charges

Quote:

Aformer FBI supervisory agent has been arrested on charges that he joined a mob storming the U.S. Capitol, where he cheered on rioters attacking police officers, federal authorities said. The former agent, Jared Wise, repeatedly shouted, “Kill ‘em!” as he watched rioters assaulting officers outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to an FBI agent’s affidavit.

Wise was arrested Monday in Oregon on misdemeanor charges including entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, court records show. The 50-year-old worked as a special agent or supervisory special agent for the FBI from 2004 through 2017, according to the affidavit. The FBI didn’t respond to a request for more information about Wise’s work for the bureau.

“We refer you to the public court documents and don’t have any further comment,” an FBI statement says.

The FBI says security camera video captured Wise inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, when a mob of Donald Trump supporters disrupted the joint session of Congress for certifying President Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory.

Wise clapped his hands and raised his arms “in triumph” after he entered the building through the Senate wing door, the affidavit says. He left the building about nine minutes after entering.

Nearly two hours later, police body camera footage showed Wise berating police officers outside the Capitol and repeatedly shouting, “Shame on you!”

this also belongs to the media is right wing...

Media missed how Proud Boys worked with FBI to bring down left-wing operations: report

Quote:

Despite the Proud Boys being all over the news for seditious conspiracy convictions, most outlets failed to mention that the FBI was actively working with numerous members of the far-right group, including its former leader, to specifically target those on the left, according to a report from Jacobin.

Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio is among up to nine members who reportedly served as informants to the FBI. Those informants were partly helping law enforcement target "Black Lives Matter protesters and other left-wing activists," according to Jacobin's Branko Marcetic.

"That fact doesn’t just make the FBI’s failure to detect and prevent the Capitol riot even more baffling," Marcetic wrote. "Revelations from the trial suggested that the FBI’s historical and ongoing fixation on left-wing protests potentially blinded it to the threat of the far right, and that the bureau is even happy to collaborate with far-right groups as a way of neutralizing what it sees as a greater threat from the Left."

IN OTHER NEWS: Accused leaker analyzed mass shootings for 'fun': report

Marcetic said only two news outlets, including the Associated Press and the Washington Post, mentioned the FBI connection at all.

"The AP’s reference was perfunctory — contained in a single line about how 'revelations of government informants in the group' prolonged the trial — leaving the Post as the one and only news outlet that specified that Tarrio himself was a longtime informer for law enforcement in a wide range of groups beyond and before the Proud Boys," according to the Jacobin report. "His own lawyer called him 'prolific' informer in a 2014 court proceeding."

Marcetic said mainstream outlets like CBS, ABC, NBC, and USA Today had no mention of the FBI's informant deals.

"Explicitly progressive or liberal-leaning outlets were no better than the mainstream," the report says. "Tarrio and other Proud Boys’ status as FBI informers was absent from Mother Jones’s write-up on the verdict, as well as those of the Guardian, Vice, Huff Post, and Salon."

Congresswoman flattens Jordan for wanting different rules for conservative FBI agents

Quote:
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) began his weaponization committee hearing on Thursday by heralding the FBI whistleblowers who lost their security clearance due to their Jan. 6 sympathies. They have since been helped financially by Republican donors and allies of former President Donald Trump.

Jordan praised the men, highlighting their service to the country and in some cases, military service. He called them heroes.

Rep. Stacey E. Plaskett (D-VI) questioned the implication that anyone in military service or public service could do no wrong.

She brought up the Air Force member in Massachusetts who was recently arrested for allegedly leaking classified documents and asked if he's still a "hero."

"Because someone served our country in the military and that they work from a federal agency does not exempt them immediately from being somebody who could potentially commit espionage," she explained.

She went on to call out the rules that Republicans refuse to play by. Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), in one case, wanted FBI agents to be fired over the Carter Page FISA application. When other misconduct is outlined for FBI agents, however, he rushes to their defense.

"But when the FBI investigates conservative Christian white men who are actually threatening violence, suddenly my Republican colleagues are rushing to defund the police," Plaskett said.

She explained that when other FBI agents are talking about their political beliefs like Peter Strzok did, they should be fired, but "when they're espousing their political beliefs on the job when they're not supposed to, it's ok when it's their [conservative] beliefs. But if it were somebody else, then a different set of rules would apply to them."

"The rules don't apply when it comes to the Republicans," she continued pointing to the beginning of the hearing on Thursday in which Jordan refused to hand over written statements of the FBI whistleblowers appearing before the committee. The rules of his own committee state that every member, regardless of party, gets the statements. Still, Jordan refused.

"It's all part and parcel of the Republicans' attempt to make Americans distrust our rule of law so when 2024 comes around and should their candidate not win, more and more people will not believe the truth," Plaskett said. "The truth matters. And hiding information and stating a lie over and over again does not make it true."

In a post on Twitter Monday, Gaetz said the Durham report is an “absolutely DAMNING treatise on the weaponization” of federal agencies against Trump, adding Monday’s development “should be a clarion call for legislative reform.”

“In a proper world, Republicans and Democrats would be able to work together on this,” Gaetz said. “It wasn’t that long ago that the FBI was a right-wing organization, weaponized against civil rights leaders and others. And it was wrong then, and it’s wrong now.”

Watch: FBI agent says he was punished for sharing evidence on Rudy Giuliani's Russian ties

Quote:

An FBI agent whistleblower who came forward with his suspicions that Rudy Giuliani “may have been compromised” by Russian intelligence claims in a new interview that the bureau stifled his concerns and retaliated against him.

Raw Story previously reported that FBI agent Jonathan Buma sent a 22-page letter in July to the Senate Judiciary Committee alleging that the former New York City mayor had been used as an asset by a Ukrainian oligarch with ties to Kremlin intelligence and other Russian operatives to spread disinformation in an effort to discredit Joe Biden.

Now, Buma is speaking out in an interview published by Business Insider. In the interview, he outlines what allegedly happened after he attempted to share the information discrediting Giuliani.
