Federal judge says Trump knowingly signed legal documents containing fake voter fraud numbers

Quote:
n an 18-page opinion on Trump affiliated lawyer John Eastman's push-back on a subpoena for emails relating to the events of Jan. 6, U.S. District Court Judge David O. Carter revealed that Trump knowingly signed documents containing fake voter fraud numbers.

According to The Washington Post, Carter determined that several documents exchanged within Trump's circle need to be made public as they're proof of "knowing misrepresentation of voter fraud numbers in Georgia when seeking to overturn the election results in federal court."

Looking over the evidence in hand, Carter has found that a filing made to a Georgia state court in early December alleged that 10,000 fake votes had been counted by Fulton County but email exchanges from Trump's team show that they knew those numbers were not real.

"The emails show that President Trump knew that the specific numbers of voter fraud were wrong but continued to tout those numbers, both in court and to the public," Carter wrote in a quote obtained from The Washington Post. "The Court finds that these emails are sufficiently related to and in furtherance of a conspiracy to defraud the United States."

In Carter's filing on Wednesday, he stated that the documents in question "make clear that President Trump filed certain lawsuits not to obtain legal relief, but to disrupt or delay the Jan. 6 congressional proceedings through the courts."

In Politico's reporting on the filing they highlight an email Eastman wrote to colleagues in which he states "Although the President signed a verification for [the state court filing] back on Dec. 1, he has since been made aware that some of the allegations (and evidence proffered by the experts) has been inaccurate . . . For him to sign a new verification with that knowledge (and incorporation by reference) would not be accurate."

"The tower of provable crimes by Trump keeps growing taller," lawyer Laurence Tribe says on Twitter. "The tipping point — the point the looming tower will topple — gets nearer with every passing day. Then: KABOOM."

Judge Carter has given Eastman until the afternoon of October 28 to disclose further requested documents relating to this issue.

Ex-cybersecurity chief told Jan. 6 panel that Trump, GOP officials ‘lied’ about 2020 election being ‘stolen’

Quote:
Former President Donald Trump’s top cybersecurity official testified to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that he believes the former president and Republican officials lied to the public about the 2020 election being “stolen,” a transcript of his testimony released on Thursday shows.

Chris Krebs, who was fired by the now 76-year-old former president in a November 2020 tweet, led the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency during the Trump administration and had called the 2020 presidential election the “the most secure in American history” shortly after the Nov. 3, 2020, contest.

When asked by Jan. 6 committee investigators why polls show a large percentage of Americans believe the 2020 presidential election was stolen, Krebs pinned the blame on Trump and others in his orbit and in the GOP.

“My personal, Chris Krebs, belief that the reason, particularly that that number is much higher skewed in Republican circles, is because Republican officials, senior officials, including the former president, lied to the American people about the security of the 2020 election, that it was stolen,” Krebs told the Jan. 6 panel.

Krebs also recounted his firing in his testimony, and added that he believes Trump sacked him for providing “factual information about the security of the election.”

“Someone sent me a text that said you just got fired on Twitter. And my immediate reaction was like, nah, nah, you’re thinking about — you read that article last week from Natasha Bertrand in Politico. And lo and behold, I pull up Twitter and there it is. 7:05, 7:06 pm,” Krebs recounted of his Nov. 17 termination.

Krebs recalled that he spoke to then acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf after seeing Trump’s tweets and that “he said, oh — something to the effect of, oh, God, that wasn’t supposed to happen like that.”

Krebs said he didn’t recall being told specifically why he was being fired but that “I think it was fairly obvious, and obvious being that, you know, we were providing factual information about the security of the election.”

The testimony from Krebs is part of a slew of documents related to the Jan. 6 select committee that has been released by the panel ahead of the final report by the committee, which will disband at the end of the year.

Despite claims of some people on this forum that there was no riot or attempted insurrection, to date 99.8% of the people who have been tried have been convicted. This comes from the Wall Street Journal.

I guess all those grannies will see their grandchildren through metal bars.

Trump Hails Jan. 6 Insurrectionists As 'Great Patriots,' Calls Prison Sentences A 'Disgrace'

Quote:

Even after nearly 1,000 Capitol rioters have been charged with crimes, Donald Trump hailed them this week as “great patriots” and their prison terms “a disgrace.”

But he also insisted that “virtually nothing happened” during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, so it was apparently no big deal.

The former president was asked on the far-right cable program “Real America’s Voice” on Friday to say a few words to lift the spirits of the “political prisoners” behind bars in the “gulag.”

“I think it’s a disgrace what’s been happening,” Trump responded. “So many of these people are great patriots, and what they’ve gone through. Then you look at antifa and BLM [Black Lives Matter]. You look at what’s gone on there, with what they’ve done in all sorts of places over the last ... two years, where they’ve burned down cities.”

However, no cities have been burned down by Black Lives Matter or antifa activists.

Trump also insisted the insurrection wasn’t “deadly” — “nobody died” on the scene, except for “wonderful” Ashli Babbitt, he added. A police officer fatally shot the Trump supporter as she attempted to climb through a smashed window in the Capitol amid a mob trying to get to lawmakers.

So, Trump noted, “virtually nothing happened” that day.

According to the Justice Department records, 950 defendants involved in the 2021 storming of the Capitol have been charged with crimes ranging from trespass and destruction to theft of Capitol property to assault to carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon to seditious conspiracy. In addition, some 140 police officers were injured defending the building and the lawmakers inside.

Trump hailed the rioters even on the day of the violence, telling them, “we love you, you’re very special,” in a video address as he finally requested that they leave the Capitol. “I know your pain,” he said.

Trump declared last September that he would “seriously” consider “full pardons — with an apology” for Jan. 6 defendants if he again becomes president. He also claimed at the time that he was “financially” supporting some of them and asked for contributions.

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Trump Campaign Plots To ‘Fan Flames’ of Big Lie in Leaked Strategy Session — TWO DAYS After Election

President Joe Biden defeated Trump in an electoral landslide that has been reaffirmed over and over by state officials from Trump’s own party, but the false claim that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from Trump has persisted — and was the spark that incited the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

According to a leaked recording of a November 5 campaign strategy session in Wisconsin that was obtained by Scott Bauer of the Associated Press, the effort to push that false claim was well underway immediately following the election.

In the first of the two clips Bauer shared, Trump Wisconsin campaign chief Andrew Iverson tells staff that “comms” is going to push the stolen election claim and in a potential admission of bad faith, says to be ready to “pull stunts”:

Here’s the deal: Comms is going to continue to fan the flame and get the word out about Democrats trying to steal this election. We’ll do whatever they need. Just be on standby if there’s any stunts we need to pull.

The second clip features Iverson boasting about the campaign but admitting defeat in the state:

At the end of the day, this operation received more votes than any other Republican in Wisconsin history. Say what you want, our operation turned out Republican or DJT supporters. Democrats have got 20,000 more than us, out of Dane County and other shenanigans in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Dane. There’s a lot that people can learn from this campaign.

Bauer notes:

The meeting showcases another juxtaposition of what Republican officials knew about the election results and what Trump and his closest allies were saying publicly as they pushed the lie of a stolen election. Trump was told by his own attorney general there was no sign of widespread fraud, and many within his own administration told the former president there was no substance to various claims of fraud or manipulation — advice Trump repeatedly ignored.
