Will a F-One Phantom 1280, with their "short" fuselage (not really meaningfull since a significant part of the fuselage length is part of the foil itself) work for learning to windfoil? The total length tip of front foil to tail back is 76cm, 275cm tail foil. I have been using it to learn to wingfoil and in control now at flying, can't jibe yet. I have the Naish 2022 Hover Crossover (7'4" x 30", 120 liters) with windfoil option but have never windfoiled before but have windsurfed forever. I am 85kg.

Shoved all the way back.
In general, windfoil masts are about 5-8" farther BACK than a what a wingfoiler uses. The 23 lbs rig adds weight in front of the sailor.
Short fuzes have pitch control problems, but a big enough stab with some added downforce thru swimming can solve most problems.
Sail mast track set up like windsurf can help pitch problems.

Depends on sail size and wind conditions. 1280 front wing is pretty small unless your plan is to foil in strong winds. The hardest part for a windsurfer learning to foil is fore and aft trim. Something we didn't deal with windsurfing.
Most windsurf foils have a longer fuse to help with that control. I would look to a dedicated windsurf foil with a front wing around 1500cc. You will be amazed in how lite of wind and how small of sail you can use to have fun.

I'm 160 lbs., normally use 1220 or 1150 with 4.5 sail for 10-16 mph wind.
In this 10-16, I'm flying around on 111 Isonic and 7.4.
Also, in 11-16 mph wind, I wingfoil with either of my windsurf foils, with a 6 meter Naish wing.
Fuze is 64cm.

What "we" do after 4/5 years of foiling is not what might be good for a newbie. I offer but one point of view from the perspective of foiling on inland lakes where the wind can be lite and gusty. For me, foiling is the most fun when the wind isn't strong enough to windsurf. It still amazing that I can fly across the lake on a small sail, bigger front wing in near glassy conditions...just sayin

Still trying to figure out flying jibes on 2140 winging. Maybe go back to 1150 for more speed on entry.

OK, thanks for the tips and overall sounds like my set up could work in medium to high winds with foil mast set in back, but be prepared for some fore and aft trim challenges with the wing foiling centric length fuselage I have.

Wait.......
I use a 1150 foil with 4.5 in winds around 11-16 mph. 160 lbs.
At that windspeed, I need a 6.0 wing with 2140 foil to get up on foil...still 160 lbs..
