All valid points but, using only the popular vote means that there are 10 states that have over 50% of the population in the US. Should those 10 states have equal voting power as the other 40? I am not saying that the Electoral College is the best way to go, but it is not likely to change.

So , your argument is the states with all the people, who pay all the taxes should have their representation muted? |

These are the most populous states:
1. California (Population: 39,613,493)
2. Texas (Population: 29,730,311)
3. Florida (Population: 21,944,577)
4. New York (Population: 19,299,981)
5. Pennsylvania (Population: 12,804,123)
6. Illinois (Population: 12,569,321)
7. Ohio (Population: 11,714,618)
8. Georgia (Population: 10,830,007)
9. North Carolina (Population: 10,701,022)
10. Michigan (Population: 9,992,427)
In the last election, Florida, Texas, Ohio, and N. Carolina all voted for Trump. The rest voted for Biden. So, the idea that these 10 states will vote for the same person and overwhelm the rest of the states is nuts.
I agree with Techno that the Electoral College is not going away. I discussed this issue in my post on May 2, including how the small states won’t want to change something that gives them outsized power. |
