'Sociopath': Estranged wife of MAGA extremist charged with sedition describes terror she faced

Quote:
The leader of the far-right militia known as the “Oath Keepers,” Steward Rhodes, has testified before the Jan. 6 committee from behind bars. Federal investigators have hit him with a “seditious conspiracy” charge, the most serious charge in the investigation into the MAGA insurrection to date. Rhodes’ estranged wife Tasha Adams speaks out about Rhodes, the founding of the “Oath Keepers,” the evidence she believes federal investigators have on him, and his recent testimony.

here is another right wing hero to the Maga, KKK racist part of the right wing.

Wendy Rogers is an American politician, Republican member of the Arizona Senate, representing Arizona Legislative District 6. Elected in November 2020, she assumed office on January 11, 2021. She was a member of the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1996.

Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers gives a speech ahead of former President Donald Trump's speech in Florence on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.
Arizona's Republican and Democratic state senators joined together Tuesday in a historic vote to censure Sen. Wendy Rogers following violent and discriminatory comments she made to a white nationalist conference and on social media attacking the president of Ukraine.

Thirteen Democrats and 11 Republicans voted for the censure language read on the Senate floor. It was the first time in three decades senators publicly censured one of their own members, and the move was applauded by Gov. Doug Ducey — who just days ago was criticized for his support of Rogers.

Rogers engaged in “conduct unbecoming of a senator, including publicly issuing and promoting social media and video messages encouraging violence against and punishment of American citizens and making threatening statements declaring 'political destruction' of those who disagree with her views. The senator from District 6 has damaged the reputation of the Arizona state Senate by her actions," Sen. Rick Gray said, reading the censure motion.

It did not include a specific reference to Rogers' antisemitic or racist statements, nor those about Ukraine's president — or even reference Rogers by name.

Rogers, R-Flagstaff, was the first to speak about her censure, citing a "corrupted process" and painting the issue as one of First Amendment free speech rights. She slammed her peers for "colluding with the Democrats to attempt to destroy my reputation."

"I do not apologize. I will not back down," she said. "In the end, I rejoice in knowing I do and say what is right, and I speak as a free American."

Senate President Karen Fann said this was not a freedom of speech issue and that she would not tolerate members threatening each other and calling fellow Republicans "communists," which Rogers did early in the day on social media.

"This certainly is not something I wanted to do. It hurts us; it pains us to have to do this," said Fann, R-Prescott, who voted "yes" on the censure. "But what we do not condone is members threatening each other, to ruin each other, to incite violence, to call us 'communist.' We don't do that to each other."

While "everybody" has the right to free speech, "that does not give you leeway to threaten people or to say whatever you want then claim it's under freedom of speech," she said.

Arizona Republican Sen. Wendy Rogers (standing in the background) defends her inflammatory comments ahead of a censure vote in the Senate on March 1, 2022, at the state Capitol in Phoenix. The Senate voted 24-3 to censure Rogers, whose embrace of white nationalism and calls for violence drew condemnation from across the political spectrum.
Democrats took a much harder tone.

Sen. Rebecca Rios, Senate Democratic leader, said Rogers' "default behavior" was to utter "racist, bigoted, and antisemitic" statements.

"I don't believe our action today will have any effect on this behavior, but it must be done," Rios said, adding that the bipartisan vote sends a "powerful message."

Sen. Raquel Terán, D-Phoenix, who also is chair of the Arizona Democratic Party and voted "yes," said the Senate should have expelled Rogers instead of just censuring her.

House Democrats also weighed in, with party leader Reginald Bolding, D-Laveen, saying Rogers should resign.

“We can't be silent,” Bolding said. “No one should look the other way on extremism. And no one should accept this member's winking, transparently false excuses for her behavior.”

Separately, in a speech on the House floor, Sen. Alma Hernandez, D-Tucson — who is Jewish — spoke briefly about Rogers.

"You’re either against antisemitism or you’re for antisemitism," Hernandez said. "It’s time for all Arizonans to stand up against this hateful rhetoric."

Rogers, Sen. Nancy Barto, R-Phoenix, and Sen. Warren Petersen, R-Gilbert, voted against the measure. Two other Republican senators, Kelly Townsend, R-Mesa, and David Gowan, R-Sierra Vista, and one Democratic senator, Victoria Steele, D-Tucson, did not attend the session, and did not vote.

Rogers ignored a reporter's questions following the vote and dismissed the censure on her social media as akin to her peers saying “we don’t like your mean tweets.” Petersen quickly left and did not return a call asking him to explain his vote. Barto said she would issue a statement later, but had not done so by Tuesday evening.

But even conservative Center for Arizona Policy President Cathi Herrod did not stay silent about Rogers, and voiced support of the censure.

"Public discourse should focus on issues not threats, name calling, etc.," Herrod posted on social media. "(Thank you) #AZSenate for standing for decency."

Impact of censure vote
Time will tell whether the censure will subdue or empower Rogers. The Senate has a one-vote Republican advantage, meaning Rogers could take revenge on her colleagues by voting against their bills. She needs their votes, however, to pass legislation she’s championed this year, including changes to the election system that her conspiracy-minded constituents want.

Gray, R-Sun City, in his comments to the Senate about the censure, suggested he wanted to see Rogers continue to work with her fellow lawmakers.

Although he believed in the censure and is "opposed to the kind of rhetoric that we heard" from Rogers, he's able to separate "personality from policy" and he'll work with anybody who comes up with good bills, he said.

Arizona law doesn’t define a censure, but it is commonly defined as formal statement of disapproval.

The censure might not be the only punishment Rogers faces. Senate GOP leaders are discussing whether Rogers will be removed from committees, majority spokesperson Kim Quintero said.

Rogers serves on the powerful Senate Judiciary and Government committees, as well as Health and Human Services and Natural Resources, Energy and Water committees. Removing her would be yet another rebuke that would lessen her influence on legislation at the Capitol.

Still, multiple copies of a draft of the censure obtained by The Arizona Republic show changes were made to remove Rogers’ name from the text, instead calling her the senator from District 6, and removing a reference to “inciting general racial and religious discrimination.” Quintero said she did not know why the language about discrimination was removed.

What led to Rogers' censure
Rogers' Feb. 25 speech to the white nationalist group, calling for public hangings, and her comments on social media over the weekend attacking the president of Ukraine amid the violent invasion of his country, prompted discussions among her peers about taking disciplinary action.

As those discussions took place, Rogers pushed back against her own party.

"So today is the day where we find out if the Communists in the GOP throw the sweet grandma under the bus for being white," she wrote on her Telegram channel prior to Tuesday's vote. Telegram is a messaging app favored by conservatives.

Rogers was no stranger to controversy even before the recent swell of condemnation, however. She is a serial promoter of false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.

That she spoke to the America First Political Action Conference in Florida on Friday raised concern. But Rogers has publicly supported AFPAC, as it is known, and its leader Nick Fuentes before, despite him being called a white supremacist by federal prosecutors. In her speech, Rogers suggested unspecified “traitors” should be publicly hanged.

"If we try some of these high-level criminals, convict them, and use a newly built set of gallows, it’ll make an example for these traitors who have betrayed our country," she said in the video speech. "They have yet to be justly punished for the crimes they have committed.”

Rogers doubled down with antisemitic sentiment and conspiracy theories on social media over the weekend, and her criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy set her apart from GOP leaders in Arizona — like Gov. Doug Ducey, and Senate leaders — who issued statements in support of the country.

"I stand with the Christians worldwide not the global bankers who are shoving godlessness and degeneracy in our face," Rogers posted on Twitter. She claimed Zelenskyy was a "globalist puppet" for George Soros, the billionaire Democratic political donor, and the Clintons.

On Monday, in response to talks about a censure, Rogers wrote on Telegram she would "personally destroy the career of any Republican who partakes in the gaslighting of me simply because of the color of my skin or opinion about a war I don’t want to send our kids to die in." She added in a separate message she would “not apologize for being white. Hit me all you want.”

Governor under fire for support
Rogers' appearance at the conference didn’t faze Ducey last week, who was subsequently criticized by media commentators and progressive groups for not condemning Rogers. Ducey’s political action committee, Arizonans for Strong Leadership, spent about $500,000 to elect Rogers to the Senate in 2020, campaign finance records show.

But asked whether he continued to support Rogers, Ducey said he needed governing majorities to get his agenda passed, and that she was better than her Democratic opponent, Felicia French.

Ducey has stayed silent since, but applauded the Senate's vote Tuesday. In a statement, the Republican governor said Rogers' statements on Ukraine were "not only ill-advised, but wrong and dangerous."

“Antisemitic and hateful language has no place in Arizona," according to Ducey's statement. "I have categorically condemned it in the past and condemn it now. I strongly believe our public policy debates should be about creating opportunity for all and making our state a better place, not denigrating and insulting any individual or group."

"These are incredibly divided times, but picking a side in the fight to protect western democracy is an easy call," the statement said. "It’s Putin versus freedom. I will always side with freedom."

Violence for ‘tyrants’ urged in Gov. Whitmer kidnap trial

Quote:
Jurors on Tuesday saw chilling social media posts by two people charged in a plot to kidnap Michigan’s governor, including references to hanging public officials and attacking authorities, even if it might end in death.

“The government has stolen enough from me,” Brandon Caserta said on Facebook in late March 2020, a few weeks after Covid-19 hit the state and around the same time that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer began a series of economic restrictions to fight the spread.

“They’ve claimed ownership over my body and my property,” he said. “Now they take away my place to live and source of income because of this?”

In the months that followed, Caserta and others trained to snatch Whitmer from her vacation home, according to evidence, before the FBI arrested the antigovernment extremists in October 2020.

Digital maps of the Elk Rapids area were saved on the phone of Adam Fox, 38, an alleged leader of the scheme, agent Chelsea Williams told jurors Tuesday.

Federal prosecutors are poised to finish their case Wednesday, which will be the 13th day of trial in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They’re trying to show in the final stretch that four men charged with conspiring to kidnap Whitmer were firmly committed to a plan without influence by informants or undercover FBI agents.

Barry Croft Jr., a 46-year-old trucker from Bear, Delaware, regularly vented on Facebook about government and public officials in 2020 when governors were issuing stay-home orders, requiring masks and making other rules during the early leg of the pandemic.

“Which governor is going to end up dragged off and hung for treason first?” Croft wrote on Memorial Day 2020. ”It’s really a spin-the-bottle match at this point and I’m sure a few mayors are in the running!!! God bless the constitutional republic!!!”

A few days later, Croft posted about seizing state Capitols and “putting these tyrants’ addresses out here for rioters.”

The FBI said that message was “liked” on Facebook by Fox. Daniel Harris, 24, and Caserta, 33, are also charged with kidnapping conspiracy.

Defense lawyers deny there was an actual plan to snatch Whitmer, claiming the men were induced by agents and informants and exchanged wild talk while smoking marijuana.

Facebook posts written by Caserta and entered into evidence were dark. He called the governor a “psychopath” and said the purpose of the Second Amendment is the “ability to kill agents of the government when they become tyrannical.”

“I may kill dozens of agents but eventually die in the process,” Caserta wrote separately in May 2020. “I will not be chipped and I will not be vaccinated even if that means losing everything I have.”

Three months later, Caserta said he would shoot “tyrants” after beating them with his hands and feet, letting them “beg til they couldn’t beg any more because their mouth is so full of blood.”

“There is no remorse for immoral cowards,” Caserta said. “Empathy is only reserved for the good.”

Defense attorney Michael Hills noted, however, that none of the messages referred to kidnapping Whitmer.

Attorney Joshua Blanchard has accused the FBI of targeting Croft because agents didn’t like his strident views. He referred to a meme posted by Croft of ammunition with the message, “Oh, look, 30 votes that count.”

“A little tongue in cheek? A little bit funny?” Blanchard asked FBI agent Thomas Szymanski.

“I didn’t laugh when I saw this meme,” the agent replied.

Whitmer, a Democrat, rarely talks publicly about the kidnapping plot, though she referred to “surprises” during her term that seem like “something out of fiction” when she filed for reelection on March 17.

She has blamed former President Donald Trump for fomenting anger over coronavirus restrictions and refusing to condemn right-wing extremists like those charged in the case. Whitmer has said Trump was complicit in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Will Greitens keep hanging on in Missouri?Lurid allegations of blackmail, sexual misconduct and child abuse would doom most politicians.

Not Eric Greitens. Or at least not yet.

Quote:

Until recently, the former Missouri governor was the undisputed leader of the state’s Senate race, despite facing years of scandals. Republicans have urged him to drop out amid fears that his possible victory in the Aug. 2 primary could hand a seat in the chamber to Democrats — or at least force the G.O.P. to stomach an unpalatable candidate in a state that should be undisputed Republican turf.

Pressure has grown on Greitens in recent weeks over allegations made in court filings by his ex-wife, Sheena Chestnut Greitens. In a statement to a Missouri judge first published on Tuesday, she said he had become “unhinged” and “threatening.”

Sheena Greitens, a scholar of Asian geopolitics, had previously accused her former husband of abusive behavior, including an alleged incident that loosened one of their son’s teeth. In her new statement, she said she stood ready to provide “photographic evidence” of the child’s injuries “at the appropriate time.”

Instead of stepping aside, Eric Greitens has made a brazen attempt to defy political gravity. Short on cash and bereft of allies, he has vowed to fight on, arguing without evidence that national Republican figures are conspiring with his ex-wife to sully his reputation, which she denies.

“I want to tell you directly, Karl Rove and Mitch McConnell,” Greitens said late last month in a video shared on his social media accounts. “Hear me now. You are disgusting cowards. And we are coming for you.”

Greitens has denied all wrongdoing, and on Tuesday, Tim Parlatore, a lawyer for the candidate, said in a statement that the alleged abusive behavior “never happened” and accused Sheena Greitens of lying.

A shrinking base of support
News of Sheena Greitens’s latest statement rippled through Republican political circles in Missouri, where anxiety over the former governor’s bid to replace the retiring Senator Roy Blunt was already extremely high. Greitens, a former Navy SEAL and Rhodes scholar, resigned as governor in 2018 amid allegations that he had tied up his former hairdresser, taken an explicit photo of her and threatened to make it public if she revealed their sexual affair.

“The latest revelations that hit this morning will upend his candidacy and will mean catastrophic shrinkage in his effort,” said Peter Kinder, a Republican former Missouri lieutenant governor who is supporting one of Greitens’s opponents, Representative Vicky Hartzler. The other major contender in the Republican primary is Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who has the backing of some in the state party establishment.

There are some signs that Greitens’s support is softening. The latest public poll of the primary, by the Trafalgar Group, showed Greitens falling into second place among likely primary voters for the first time. Another recent survey commissioned by Schmitt’s campaign showed similar results. And on Saturday, in what some saw as evidence of his growing difficulties, Greitens skipped a Republican Party event in Taney County, one of the bigger annual gatherings of activists in the state.

The turmoil in the Republican primary has complicated Donald Trump’s efforts to influence the outcome. Some party insiders had feared that Trump would endorse Greitens, who has tailored his campaign message around “defending President Trump’s ‘America First’ policies” and has questioned the 2020 presidential election results.

After the previous round of allegations by Sheena Greitens, Trump issued a statement praising “the big, loud and proud personality of Congressman Billy Long,” who is also running for the Missouri Senate seat but has failed to gain much traction. “This is not an Endorsement, but I’m just askin’?” Trump said.

Eric Greitens has struggled to raise money, with finance reports showing that his campaign had less than $300,000 in the bank as of January. Super PACs supporting Greitens have received large donations from two Republican billionaires, Richard Uihlein, a shipping magnate, and Bernard Marcus, a founder of Home Depot. Greitens has also brought in nearly $900,000 through his joint fund-raising committee, and a spokesman said his upcoming fundraising report will show that the campaign raised a “six-figure” sum of money since Sheen Greitens made her first statement.

But James Harris, a Republican lobbyist who has been talking with Missouri donors and activists about the race, said, “They’re really just done with him.” Harris recounted a conversation with a donor who recently turned down a fund-raising pitch by Greitens, saying his wife would “kill me” if he gave money to the former governor.

And now, the entry into the race of an heiress to a beer-company fortune threatens to make the general election competitive.

Illinois Police Officer Resigns After White Supremacist Posts Surface Online
"When I seize power, 'hate crimes' will be encouraged," read a social media post linked to veteran officer Aaron Paul Nichols. He resigned Tuesday.

Quote:

A veteran police officer in Illinois resigned Tuesday after researchers connected him to a deluge of violent and bigoted social media posts that glorified Adolf Hitler and hate crimes.

The resignation of Springfield Police Department Officer Aaron Paul Nichols, 46, came shortly after his department announced an investigation into the posts, first surfaced by Anonymous Comrades Collective (ACC), a group of anti-fascist researchers.

“If I found a genie and I had one wish? The Jews would be a distant memory in 72 hours,” one of the posts allegedly written by Nichols reads.

The Springfield Police Department said on Friday that it had launched an investigation into Nichols’ “racist comments,” and that his “police powers had been removed.” On Tuesday, the department told HuffPost in a statement that Nichols, who joined the department in 2004, resigned instead of meeting with investigators.

“The Springfield Police Department is committed to a complete and thorough investigation into the comments and actions of Aaron Nichols, regardless of his resignation,” the statement said.

This latest revelation comes amid growing concern by the FBI that law enforcement has been infiltrated by white supremacists.

Nichols did not respond to repeated requests for comment from HuffPost.

An Avalanche Of Hate
Nichols was first identified last Thursday by ACC, the group of researchers that tracks down white supremacists and neo-Nazis. The group previously helped HuffPost in its report first identifying Andrew Casarez, the leader of a Dylann Roof-worshipping neo-Nazi group.

Nichols left a trail of breadcrumbs leading to his unmasking, including sharing details about his family, his time in the police force and his location. Several racist posts on Twitter under the account name “SPD584” were traced to a Periscope account with the same handle, and which included his full legal name. Researchers were able to connect the Twitter account to an account on the far-right social media website Gab with the same name. On Gab, where extremism and hate speech proliferate, Nichols shared a photo of his partially obscured face in one of his anonymous posts.

“When I seize power, ‘hate crimes’ will be encouraged,” the Gab account researchers connected to Nichols said.

Many of Nichols’ alleged posts discuss killing Black and Jewish people, the same people he had sworn to protect for nearly two decades. (Note: Several of the quoted posts include uncensored racial slurs.)

“I have metal stamps. I think I’ll just stamp 14/88 into every nigger quarter I get,” another of the Gab posts read. “Easy.”

The number 14 refers to a white supremacist slogan, and 88 refers to “HH,” or “Heil Hitler.”

“Niggers ruin everything,” another post read. “Even if it’s White doing the stealing they’re likely selling the meat to blaq [sic] run restaurants or trading it to niggers for dope. Real talk.”

Springfield, the capital city of Illinois, has a population of approximately 115,000 people, and SPD has just over 200 officers on its police force. Black citizens represent 20% of the population, according to the 2020 Census.

Along with Black people, posts connected to Nichols also expressed a deep hatred for Jews.

“I’ll say it in English. I am a supporter of as many holocausts as it takes to cleanse this world of talmudic influence,” a post that has been archived read.

Another post said “Hitler did nothing wrong,” and another discussed how the user told a neighbor at a Christmas party that he didn’t believe the Holocaust happened.

Members of the Illinois legislature wrote a letter Monday calling for an independent investigation into Nichols.

“It would be disturbing enough to know someone with these views was living in your community,” the letter said. “But to learn that such a person is exercising authority over the very people he declares his hatred for is terrifying.”

In one post connected to Nichols last year, the user expressed pride at being a cop.

“I despise the government and have for nearly 3 decades,” the post read. “The best place I can possibly be is inside the beast. I’ve done a lot of good in my careers.”

here we go another right winger in essense defending the McVeighs of his party...

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/4/19/2092882/-Josh-Hawley-terrorist-sympathizer-since-the-Oklahoma-City-bombing?detail=emaildkre

27 years ago, terrorists attacked Oklahoma City and a teenaged Josh Hawley rose to their defense

Quote:

Tuesday marks the 27th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, the violent attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building that killed 168 people and injured 680 others. The domestic terror attack was carried about by two white supremacist, anti-government, right-wing extremists in the Michigan Militia.

As the nation reeled in horror at the specter of homegrown and deadly political terrorism, one teenager in Missouri decided to step up to defend the terrorists: 15-year-old Josh Hawley, who would go on to become a U.S. senator who is using his vaunted position to achieve the aims of those terrorists from the inside. Hawley wanted to explain the terrorists, and to defend the mindset of the militia movement that led the two men, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, to murder.

Ukraine update: Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is ...
“Many of the people populating these movements are not radical, right-wing, pro-assault weapons freaks as they were originally stereotyped,” Hawley wrote. “Dismissed by the media and treated with disdain by their elected leaders, these citizens come together and form groups that often draw more media fire as anti-government hate gatherings.”

He described these militia members as “Feeling alienated from their government and the rest of society.” That alienation, he said, leads them to “become disenchanted and slip into talks of ‘conspiracy theories’ about how the federal government is out to get them.” And by the way, he continued, the Los Angeles police detective whose racism was exposed during the OJ Simpson trial, Mark Fuhrman, should not be called a racist. “In this politically correct society, derogatory labels such as ‘racist’ are widely misused, and our ability to have open debate is eroding,” he wrote.

Seems like 15-year-old Josh Hawley has a lot in common with Sen. Josh Hawley, the man who raised his fist in solidarity with the terrorists who swarmed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, leading to the deaths of five people.

That same day, Jan. 6, Hawley went on to vote to throw out Pennsylvania’s election results. He was one of the eight Republican senators attempting to subvert the voters and the Constitution. Seven Democratic senators called for an ethics probe of both Hawley and Sen. Ted Cruz over their apparent enthusiasm for the insurrection.

Hawley responded to that with yet another column, this one claiming he was the victim of cancel culture for what he called “representing the views of my constituents and leading a democratic debate on the floor of the Senate.” He insisted he was defending the “basic principles that join all Americans together—the right to speak freely, to debate openly, and to address our differences graciously without fear of being silenced or punished for dissenting views.”

A little over a year later, the same Hawley who seemed to imply that the violent attack on the Capitol was somehow addressing differences “graciously” is still pandering to the extreme conspiracy theorists. Hawley twisted Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s experience as a judge and member of the Sentencing Commission to imply that she was somehow a protector of pedophiles, that she was somehow complicit in the sexual abuse of children.

That’s another conspiracy theory that nearly resulted in mass bloodshed when a North Carolina man shot up Comet Ping Pong restaurant in northwest Washington in December 2016 because he was convinced that the restaurant was a hub of child sex slavery. Edgar Maddison Welch is one of those “alienated from society” people Hawley empathized with as a teen. He, by some miracle, didn’t harm anyone when he fired three shots inside the restaurant, surrendering after he found no evidence that children were being held at or trafficked from the pizzeria. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation by Jackson, the same judge Hawley has tried to smear. Coincidence?

It’s all enough to make you wonder how many white hoods Josh Hawley keeps hidden way in his closet.

North Dakota's longest-serving lawmaker quits after texting a convicted child abuser

Quote:
One of North Dakota’s most powerful lawmakers announced his plans to resign Monday after reportedly exchanging texts with a jailed man facing child pornography charges. According to the Associated Press, the Republican senator identified as Ray Holmberg is the state’s longest-serving senator. His career spanned more than 46 years. While his term was expected to end on Nov. 30 and he had no intentions to rerun, he said Monday he would resign effective June 1.

GOP fields candidates of questionable character as attacks on abortion rights intensify

On the same day as Buffalo massacre, Ted Nugent calls for violence against Democrats in Trump rally

Quote:
“I love you, but I would love you more,” Ted Nugent tells the audience at Trump’s rally, “if you went out and just went berserk on the skulls of the Democrats and the marxists and the communists.” “Evil” must be “stamped out.”

The suspect’s alleged manifesto contained repeated mentions of the "Great Replacement" theory. MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin spoke to Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP, and Cynthia Miller-Idriss, the Director of the Polarization and Extremism Research & Innovation Lab at the American University about the rise in white supremacist violence.
