Jibing the Moses 1100

Got the 1100 for light wind foiling. Hardly ever miss a jibe on my 790. Spent 2 hours and didn’t make a single jibe on the 1100. Bummer.

You should see Kevin of Sunset Sailboards jibe his 1000 high aspect.
Unreal linked, ole matador, full foiling up and down 360's, looks so easy and fluid.
Me, I find my Kite 600 jibes the same as the stock 1220 delta. Maybe 2 mph faster.

The Moses 1100 is nothing like the foils Kevin is riding, it's +2000cm2.

StringP: what's going amiss? From what I understand that foil needs quite a lot of pressure to carve compared to the more surfy 790.

Without specifics of what actually goes wrong, no advice can be given.

The 1100 doesn’t glide through the jibe near as well as the 790 which seems strange considering how big it is. Using a 1 degree shim. Going to try a 2 degree to see if that helps.

Went from almost Delta shape 1500 sq to bigger, moderate aspect.
So most would blame wider wing with less chord being less surfing affecting jibe exits.
The reason I cited Sunset Sailboards is because he went thru several guns from i84 to now w1000, the highest aspect wing available, and his jibing is better than ever.
Maybe come out of your jibes STILL headed somewhat downwind.

I have a solution for you.... sell the 1100 and keep the 790.

But really - if you need a bigger wing for light air..... trade the 1100 for the 950.

I have the Moses 679, 790 and 1100 front wings with the 900 fuselage and 450 stab. I have had the same problem adapting to my 1100 as well as keeping the 679 in the water during higher winds. My sensei at Sailworks tells me that I should try different shims on the stabilizer for each size front wing, say 2 degrees for the 1100, 1 degree for the 790, and zero for the 679.
another important variable is the distance from sail mast center to the leading edge of the foil mast. my happy spot is 43 inches, but this can also vary by wind strength, sail size and whether you foil in the harness . These are all sailor dependent and at 220+ my numbers may be different than yours.
the best advice of all that I got was to work with the folks at Sailworks to tune and balance my foil gear. that took me from never jibing to almost always making foiling jibes in all conditions. My sails are now properly shimmed too! That advice has been more valuable than upgrading my gear!
the 1100 is an amazing wing BTW and well worth keeping!

Yea, tried the 1 and 2 degree shims. Just couldn’t get it.
Health issues are keeping me off the water, so it’s up for consignment.
