Just want to thank everyone for their time.
the feedback was helpful. It sounds like I may get more mileage if I go with the 147 Liter version.
Enjoy!

I I weigh 90 kg and I have been windsurfing for a while, although I never got to the level of planing and I do only light winds subplaning, due to the prevailing wind conditions here. .
I’m now considering a Bic ( Tahe) Techno 160 WF board. I’ll put a foil on it as soon as I am in the money.
For the moment, until I learn how to plane it without a foil , I’d use it for light winds subplaning, as an alternative to the 12 ft Bic Windsup I currently have , which is kind of heavy and cumbersome to carry around, although it has always served me well in light winds. The Bic Techno, in, comparison, is delightfully light and has a removable centerboard. It could be a happy compromise.
I know it will be an excellent performer for planing, but I wonder if its subplaning performance equals or even exceeds that of the 12 ft Bic Windsup , thanks to its light weight and its ( removable) centerboard.
As a centerboard for the Techno I could use a fin I currently have that is almost the size of the Windsup centerboard. It should help.
Any comments?
Thanks

Something just strange about this shape (and I have confirmed this experience with one other person who has Techno 160) is that with full on planing the spray from hitting chop directly hits you in the face when in the foot straps. I have the Bic Nova 165 which is identical shape but a bit more volume due to the padded deck. Its my budget light wind free ride board that can be used to teach, but I want to get rid of it because my face and eyes take a beating every time I sail it. Haven't been able to adjust it away (footstrap placement, mast base placement), too much spray. The subplaning is subpar due to the rounded short shape even with the center fin. |

It's heavy and long, so exactly what you don't want for foiling. |
