We're staying at Shacks. The forecast has improved.

Usually 2-10 mph stronger on the NNW corner than San Juan.
Wind accelerates over warm island compared to cool sea.
Spring is normally the windiest time.

Was an epic trip. Sailed every day except last day. Mid week was large swell. Either side was more manageable swell.

Another quickie trip to PR for the FWPR Wind Warriors wave riding contest. Sailed a new spot on the north shore where wind always seems a few knots stronger than San Juan. Was 5.2 and 5.5 wind for me the 2 days before the contest and then 6.3 wind the day of the contest (I’m 190 lbs). The winner and second place were both riding 4.7 but they are both probably 150 lbs.

I am planning to windsurf in PR in Jan 2022, I'll try your spots, thanks for sharing! I hope the wind will be there... Cool

Here now, rain on and off for 2 weeks, wind moderate gusting to 20, moderate swell.
Jet lag is fun.
At San Juan, heading E to Fajardo in 2 days.

More rain showers, gusts to easy 30, but 5 minutes later, less than 10...really goofy. Swell 3-5, lots of kiters at Ocean Park, a couple of wave sailors out on the reef at Punta Las Marias.

Loving the short airplane ride from Florida to Puerto Rico.

Spots I have sailed since I started traveling to Puerto Rico are (from east to west):
Caballos
Punta San Marias
Dorado
Mauizapa
Jobos
Shacks
Surfers Beach
Wilderness
Table Rock

Also heard about spots in Arecibo but that will have to wait for future visits.

I'm at E PR, North, so best spot I've seen is Loiza/Piniones about 2-5 miles N of Caballos.
Several finger rock reefs with soft rights off them, plus two idyllic looking point rights that do get wind shadowed by the jungle during E winds.
Luquillo behind the food kiosks, a easy beach launch and bit of slog past the Ballenario, all flat water, to the outside right reef and pretty good channel up to 6 foot.
7 Seas, easy out to the left or W side channel, but wave ridding is off the left point, going around the corner into Red Beach, so downwind of launch and around the point. You can sail back if good going upwind, but not for novices.
Potential right in front of that big hotel in Fajardo..Conquistador, at the island, where there's a right sandbar break that stays open no matter the swell between Conquistador and that island. Best on ESE winds, so it's side off wind.
