Greetings fellow Boardsailors!
PSA #5 regarding City press release citing large rescue incident, promoted the Annual Boardsailing Safety Conference Sat April 10 at 10AM 3rd Ave Parking Lot), and announced the upcoming Community Update Meeting, 21 April

Given the recent US Coast Guard and SMC Fire Department rescues involving multiple kiteboarders at Baywinds Park this past Friday night, the City of Foster City has issued a press release citing the incident, promoted the Annual Boardsailing Safety Conference, and announced the upcoming Community Update Meeting.

The 2021 Annual Boardsailing Safety Conference will be held this Saturday, April 10th, at 10:00 am, at Baywinds Park in Foster City. The Safety Conference will be hosting special guest speakers, such as Vice Mayor Awasthi, the US Coast Guard, SMC Fire Department, SFBA, as well as several other guest speakers that include site locals/Foster City residents Owain Chastain and Rich Wilde (windsurfing), Tony Parsons and Jeff Kafka (kiting), Girish Thattil and Ken Poulton (kite foiling), Anthony Del Balso (wing boarding), and more. This conference will be a comprehensive safety meeting covering all boardsailing disciplines utilizing the site, sport-specific safety and self-rescue tips, as well as informative information regarding access and levee construction that impacts the way you will be required to safely operate your equipment while using this site. Immediately following the safety portion, we will be having a beach clean-up as an outreach to the community, as well as a BBQ (Covid-compliant). We encourage you to be present and actively involved in this event.

The City of Foster City the next Community Update Zoom Meeting to be held on Wednesday, April 21st from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm. This meeting will focus on addressing recreational water use safety information guidelines, in addition to general project news and updates. First Responders will also be present at this meeting and will also have an opportunity to engage with the community, just as they will be doing at the Safety Conference this Saturday. The City encourages participation from the Boardsailing Community and also encourages you to log into the City's website to subscribe to upcoming updates, announcements, and city council meetings.
