Only 2 Windsurfers out at Natural Bridges today even though Mike Godsey had mentioned NB in the ProForecast. 5.8 and 7.0 sails. Wind was a bit marginal. This time of year I take what I can get....

So true Mac..At the Stick on October 20, 2020 for a geriatric wing session. I am so glad I am able to wing at 71..it has given me the stoke that I was seeking this year as I was about to hang it up after 35 years of windsurfing and dabbling in wind foiling for the last couple of years. The wing is a godsend for us old windsurfers in my opinion Cool

Bravo Bert!!! Maybe I'll reconsider foiling (if not winging!) in about a decade, after I am well passed the 70 barrier Shocked

My personal form of geriatric retreat seems to revolve around resisting to rig my 7.3 cambered sail. I am getting lazy! But this fall a 6.5 with my Isonic 111 has given me as much time on the water as any foil or wing I see around. And faster, of course, even if it is in second gear with the 6.5. I am finally retiring it, and getting a Futura 71. With an easier no-cams ACX 7.5 it will be my medium/low wind weapon. Go slappers! Very Happy

I've stopped using my 7.4's, 7.7, and 8.3 in favor of low end tuned 6.6's or lightweight 6.0.
Foil doesn't help much in light wind for us lighter weight windsurfers. Certainly not in the Bay Area.
I find my wing really hates 2-8 mph breezes.
Maybe stick to windfoil for sub 17 days.
Wings are small and packable for travel.

Not much wind, especially compared to last night at the higher elevations. Just had six to eight knots to work with. So SailSUP it was. And Surfline had indicated surf was tiny so take some extra foam with ya. So I used my Angulo 10' 10". It has not been out much, but I have sailed it a couple of times of late.

Launched at Moran Lake, sailed out through the kelp beds and then down to Pleasure Point where I caught a few waves at third peak. Then back up the coast and out to the bay. Sailed out until The Chardonnay passed me and then back into the Moran Lake Beach.

Well, I did not expect much wind today, but the best prediction per the models was Natural Bridges. So I went there with only one board packed in the van. My Angulo 10' 10". I had used it yesterday to SUP from New Brighton through Shark Park. Saw nary a one.

Much to my surprise the wind came up to over mid-teens and was very steady! This is so rare this time of year. I had a great three hour session. Nothing fancy. Just sailing around with quite a few "speed runs". I know that does not go with a SailSUP, but I did hit 20.4 mph (17.7 knots), which is still fun. I would have gotten at least five knots faster with my Naish Freeride board, but alas, had not brought it with me.

Looking at the other Santa Cruz County sensor trends post session, it looked there was no wind to speak of anywhere else. I truly lucked out.

rod and gun yesterday morning... Launched at 9 ish on 111 L and 4.7 (180 LBS) minimal chop and some big holes, but worthwhile with the bigger board.
