At the lower launch at Coyote today. That's the Oculus (Facebook) building just beyond that may be further messing up the wind on the inside. It was so smoky that you couldn't see beyond a 100 yards from shore. 1 kiter, 2 windfoilers, 5 wingers and 6-7 slogging windsurfers at 3 pm at low tide with the wind at 15 NNW.

Picture taken at 5:40PM on an unhealthy air Sunday at Candlestick Point Windsurfer Circle.
Proof that windsurfing, wingsurfing and smoking are equally addictive.

Bit too unhealthy for my heart disease ... maybe tomorrow conditions will get better but I doubt it. PM2.5 has been a steady 180-200 over the Bay Area for days. The pollution is incredible. The smoke cover goes from Canada to Mexico, 150 all the way to 700 PM2.5

There you go! Facebook not only destroys democracy but it messes up our wind!!!!!!! To the barricades!!!!!! Get some dynamite!!!!
Hard to tell because the wind was often from a strange direction in June-July, but if it is confirmed next year Coyote is becoming much harder to sail. What used to be a gradient between the beach and the outside is now a wind hole on the inside, with the wind more westerly by 15-45 degrees.
I had a couple of occasions in which I came in from the outside markers following the usual return route (straight arrow below) only to see the wind direction changing so much (curved arrow) that I was suddenly pointing toward the boardsport shop! It was obvious that the wind was deflected by the upwind acumen building ... it is a perfect wall almost perpendicular to the wind direction.

"I was suddenly pointing toward the boardsport shop!"
I think Boardsports uses Facebook for marketing.
Coincidence?
I think not!

Yes, it is not a coincidence! You are right!
BTW: Great Stick day yesterday. The wind died to zero at around 3:00, but it came back 40' later in "perfect" steady conditions for powered 5.4 with my FSW 90. It stayed up until 5:30, in beautiful low golden September light. Then the fog rolled in and it switched off suddenly to 3-4 knots.

You can sense that this season is beginning to end. The winds are slowing down and the water is getting colder. At Treasure Island this Monday October 5 on the 4.6 wing. Wind was 15 with gust to 18 past the point. Zenlike session for an hour or so.
