Anyone have room to take a slalom board from LA/OC area to Bay area for $$'s?
Or recommend shipment method?

Amtrak works good. Just tell them it's a surfboard and pad it good.
Drop off and pickup are at the train stations.

I brought it to the Santa Ana, CA Amtrack station, which was pretty much life less, and they refused it. Said it was too big. I guess they were too busy not making any money to accept it.

Try the same station ealier or later with a different more accommodating employee. If that doesn't work, try a different station. I've sent way bigger boards than that on Amtrak out of Davis California. Only one stop in our town and I go after commute hours when things are super slow and they are bored and become puzzled by what's in the box. I've sent 85 CM wide boxes with no problems just a lot of laughs at it being a surfboard.

Call Amtrak first.
The main stations are the only ones that will take freight.

Thanks Jason and Carl!
I eventually found a station that would take it and it arrived in good order. But a heads up, apparently there have been cases of fraudulent intent where a customer ships a damaged board and claims that is occurred during transit. I had to unpack age the board to prove that it was in good shape before they would accept it.
