We could debate the difference between ban and arrest 'til the cows come home, or we could just avoid stomping on their toes in the first place.

Oh, brother. Roosevelt and Avery have been open for day use with zero issues for almost three weeks. The Wall, Rufus, and Celilo are opening tomorrow. Nobody is going to get arrested or banned. Isobars and U2, two peas in a pod - just go away.

I gotta wonder what part of NO DAY USE Alex can't understand. Is he part of the reason Roosevelt was still closed to DAY USE as recently as this past Friday? |

Maybe launching a windsurfer might not conflict day use rules, especially while being offshore sailing about.
Isn't the boat launch available for use? I think that the day use thing is about hanging out in the park. It's hard to imagine that quick rigging and de-rigging would be a problem, as long as reasonable distancing is followed. |

Mother Nature closed Roosevelt indefinitely Saturday evening. One huge front row tree and many very big limbs and lesser trees came down across the lawn. Until the damage and risk are cleared, the park is thoroughly closed to all vehicle and foot traffic.
Yet people are being allowed to fish from the bank. Go figure.
BTW, the Corps has admitted, according to the new camp host, that all those "NO DAY USE" signs were bluffs never intended to be enforced. Doesn't the Corps (and all the idiot mayors of rioting cities) understand how thoroughly their empty threats of closures and curfews followed by crickets undermine their credibility? (Saturday's closure is ordered by the Fire Marshall with backing from the Sheriff's Office, both of which mean business.) |

Just learned that the last launch remaining closed due to Covid - Rowena - is to reopen tomorrow! This directly from Clay Courtright, Park Manager for the Gorge Management Unit of Oregon State Parks. Yay! |

Jurisdictional issues I assume. Doug's is a State Park and the Wall is Army Corp of Engineers. |
