What really sucks.

Dealing with the threat of covid19. The possibility of being infected by someone who is contaminated, passing it along a chain, to those that have an underling medical history, making it really hard to deal with tasking a medical system that’s already overwhelmed with it, not enough tests. Ignoring the stay at home orders that are in place in most states.
Does essential travel mean driving to a beach ?
The covid 19 swab test , was administered to me,on Friday, I had enough symptoms ,to warrant it, after other tests were done, inconsistencies. 94% reliable is the swab test.
Doctors felt that swab test may have been administered incorrectly.
Redone after being admitted, again negative. Nice 3 day vaca in nice room, nice menu ,nice nurses. Underlying history, every caution taken.
I can not overstate the pain level of the swabs being inserted so far into the nostrils, near the brain, it goes away quickly as good news.
The level of security at the hospital is unreal, eerie. No visitors.
Can’t emphase enough, you don’t want 19, wait for 20 or 21, they may kill you quickly.
You don’t want the symptoms, nor having to tell a ER nurse you may have been exposed. You sure as anything don’t want the test currently in use.
If even one of you , going off to sail, gets exposed, by a gas pump handle, while refueling during your essential trip, it’s one too many.
Get used to thinking about someone other than yourself.

On Long Island there are some closed parks, but many of the regular launches are available. I had my first pandemic session with friends last Thursday.

The social distancing conversation does come up vv the wind...standing downwind of someone in a 20 knot breeze does change what one must do to avoid droplets.

Thank you, U2U2U2U, for your sanctimonious, virtue signaling response. I’m sure you’re busy calling the police on your neighbors and friends if you see them walking down the street trying to get a breath of fresh air as they deal with lost work, unemployment and reduced pay while you take breaks patting yourself on the back for your courage for being hospitalized for a cold.

Just curious, what were YOU doing to contract your cold? What social distancing precautions did YOU not take? You HAD to have done SOMETHING wrong to get this cold, obviously thinking ONLY of yourself right? Your throwing some pretty big stones from that glass house of yours. Glad you got over your life threatening cold!

Every stay home order I have read exempts outdoor exercise so long as not grouped. Maine order even mentions fishing as allowed so long as 6 ft spacing! Hiking, biking, etc also mentioned. Fish and Game even sent an email reminding subscribers outdoor activites allowed with spacing.

Hit the local lake landing yesterday for first session of season as ice went out last week. Strong gusty NW/W winds rocked me but felt like living. I get the people that will not leave their house though so do what you feel best.

Think sailors are divided on this one, whether it's the threat of catching it from the sewer runoff in the water, or not distancing, or just the fact that it looks bad being out sailing during this time.
I'm hoping to sail Friday if I can find an open beach for west wind...

Regarding Friday, planning on heading to Barn Island, Stonington, CT. Classic Fishers Island Sound funnel out of the WSW. I would not be surprised if the winds reach 40 mph.

U2U2U2, sorry to hear about your COVID-19 experience. Will be thinking of you when I take your old F2 out for a spin Friday.
