I'm fascinated with the wing and despite my years and knee issues, I'm gonna give it my best shot to fly the wing this season.

Lots of guys doing it here and doing it well. The key seems to be a huge foil wing 2000 cm or bigger. Its still seems to take a bit more wind for them to fly
and they are now using larger hand kites. I'm on a 4.7 hydra sport and the Naish 1150 foil while "they" are using six or seven meter kites. Looks like fun and I may give it a shot if we get water in our lake. The one issue is shoulder and back fatigue. You need good range of motion in your shoulders to de power in the gusts. Some of the better "winger's" have tried to work out harness lines but so far haven't got it working. Time will tell...

I saw a video of a guy out in the delta giving some tips on wing-foiling with the duotone wing. It's the only one with a bar/boom as opposed to hand-loops. He used his with a harness.

Demitry was nice enough to let me play around with his duotone wing on the carpets at Third. It immediately made sense to me. I liked the boom, as I could slide my hands along it. Jibing (changing tacks) felt just like picking up your windsurfing rig on shore (while not attached to the board), bringing it over your head, and flipping it around in order to set it down on the opposite boom.

So, yes. I'm also curious. However, I've never ridden a foil. For the wing to be successful, you need the foil. That's why the "wind-weapon" from the Gorge in the late 80's never really took off. It was sold as a better way to get air time. It was just too complicated and inefficient. You can actually fly better on a standard windsurfer. Just look to Dale Cook.

if you already have foiling experience, like Bert, the wing thing is pretty easy. I find pitch control easier with the wing thing than with windsurf foiling (possibly b/c of the huge foil and slower speed).

Duotone has some sort of patent on the boom I believe (or the attachment of the boom). I find a lot of windsurfers like the idea of the boom. I'm using the Duotone wing myself (also have access to Slingshot with no boom). Either way works.

This is a good video that should answer a lot of questions
