I moved away from the Gorge and now am near a reservoir with consistent 12-15 knot winds. What kind of rig would be the most useable and fun in such conditions for someone of 165 lbs. who used to enjoy the big waves and wind and who hasent been following the new technology? |

Get one of the wider boards, Starboard GO 140, AHD Freediamond 77, BIC Techno 273 or 283, a 7 to 9 meter sail and get ready to fly. You could alo go with a Formula board and a 8 to 11 meter sail. The choice is yours, as is the cost. You will probably need a new mast and boom as well, I doubt you had much need for a 490 mast or carbon giant slalom boom at the Gorge. |

Depends on whether you want to go extremely fast, carve all day, do tricks, or combinations of all these. Formula boards & big carving boards are fine, but that is enough wind for even larger free-move boards.
I wish my local lakes had consistent 12-15 knot winds. With that much you wont even need a center-board. In the middle of the summer I have a hard time finding enough wind to hold me up in the harness with a 7.5 sail. |
