why are foils so expensive? out of reach for the average joe non highly paid tech /engineer /programmer/ etc. I get it. r+d advertising low production numbers etc but still? Its a glorified fin with a wing attached.

Well, in the latter days of racing formula boards, the best fins were $900–and you needed 3. My foil is one of the F4 Race foils. With a 1 meter fuselage made out of aluminum, a 39” (1 meter) mast that is really stiff, and two pretty precisely made wings with a spacer that sets the rear wing at the right angle. It sails really well—just got in from day 110 this year. It has to support sailors from 150 to 220 pounds, at speeds from 13 mph when you start to foil, and 30, which the pros (not me) can reach. In winds from 12 to 30. I can get to Treasure island faster than I ever could on a formula board. When i fly over the waves it is much easier on my 70 year old body. I’d do it again in a fat minute.

Next question?

I like boards that are painted blue the best. The other colors work ok too.
I don't care what color a foil is.
The blue wings are pretty cool looking though.
The black and orange ones are ok too.

2018 Dialer and stock wing. First local on SS gear. I knew that W S foiling was in the beginning stages and there where going to be issues and upgrade in the days to come. My gear work flawlessly. It was easy to sail and learn to fly. It held up to tons of abuse that I dished out. I did have one problem that I mostly caused my self. I stripped the Tuttle head board connection. I called Windance who called SS and they sent me a new one in a week for free. That's excellent customer service. Same thing with a friends 76 wing. One picture and he had a new one in a week no questions asked. What more can you ask for?
