What are the best places to launch in NY or New Jersey when the wind is east north east

I don't know any of the launches for NY but there are many good ones from what I hear - check the Peconic Puffins blog for a map: www.peconicpuffin.com

For NJ from north to south: google Ideal Beach in Port Monmouth on Raritan/Sandy Hook Bay - likely will be some sailors there tomorrow.

Further south on the Barnegat Bay, look for Trixies Landing in Berkley Twp., also Laurel Avenue just a few mile south. Allen Road is also good. All of these are launches on the west side of the Bay.

for Ocean Wave Sailing - Ocean City, NJ is the call always windy in OC on NE or ENE and side shore wave sailing, miles of beaches to do a down winder
Strathmere outer sandbar / break on good swell is a good as it gets, don't go solo

Bayskipping- Port Monmouth, NJ- SPHYHOUSE

tear it up .

I like Holgate L.B.I. N.J.(ocean sailing) on ENE. I MAY (watching the rain call) be there on Sunday if anyone wants in.

Johny,
Thanks for the Strathmere tip. i've been eyeing Corson's and Hereford inlets on the maps, dreaming up a NE session one of these days, maybe even a downwinder, if anyone were to join.
Do you have anything to say on Corson's VS Hereford inlets? Does one set up better than the other on NE? Are the currents about same? Looks like Hereford has a nice sandbar/island in the middle - might generate some wrap-around wave? In both cases i'm thinking, launch from the causeway inside, sail across/out to the surf..
I was also wondering about Longport/OceanCity (Great Egg Harbor inlet) - does anyone ever sail that? Surfers seem to like it.

(For reference - I've sailed ocean in Brigantine, Barnegat Light, and Seaside - not much in Jersey but more in DE/MD, since i live in MD)
Best,
-Phil

Strathmere used to be the place for NE. I know some folks would launch from Corson's inlet and sail out that way, but we always just drove a few blocks South and launched from the beach. I haven't sailed there in years, so not sure how much activity there is there these days.

Holgate is also a good spot as long as the wind's not too North, in which case it will be blocked by the land which can make launching difficult due to light wind on the inside. It sets up well on NE as the waves wrap around the wooden jetty.

Strathmere was on last week on NE! 4.7/92L
Thank you guys for the tips.
The only company i had was a bunch of kiters - and even those disappearing out of view all too quickly, as they mostly run downwinders these days.

Looking forward to trying Stone Harbor or Holgate on next NEs.

Out on Eastern LI Ponquogue and the Bowl are good ocean spots.
For bay sailing East Landing on the Great Peconic works
For flat water/shallow bay sailing Tiana Bay, a favorite for ABK clinic.s.

On Sunday out east we sailed Tiana Bay, which was flat water heaven (waist deep, pool table flat) on 4.7's and 4.2's (I weigh 160lbs)

A few guys were out on the ocean nearby at Ponquogue...that worked as well. For myself in those conditions my first choice would be Ponquogue...this particular day I was sailing with a friend returning to windsurfing who isn't ocean ready (yet!)
