OK. Ya talked me into it. My 4.7 Sinewave weighs 2.56 kg ... including some webbing, a buckle, and the sail bag. But since my 4.7 Sinewave FEELS lighter than my 4.2 Featherlite when maneuvering and has every ounce of power of my 5.2 Featherlite, I'm very happy with it. More than half -- maybe 2/3 -- of my sail is an exciting, new, exotic, uber-tech material I chose for its greater handling, superior durability, gorgeous appearance, lighter weight (especially at the clew, which along with the Autobatten system decreases rotational inertia significantly), and more. I've compared the material for entire seasons on the water to every other sail material I've heard of, and prefer it over the rest in the leech half of the sail body. Some of you may have heard of it: it's called dacron. |

Your sail in 4.7 size weighs 15% less than quoted by NW. It does however still rig on a 400cm mast. _________________ K4 fins

And some aluminum booms weigh less than their carbon counterparts, one of my masts weighs 1.1 kg, and I've passed Miatas on twisty two-lane highways ... in my Winnebago. Life's full of surprises. |

One of the lightest masts is a Maverx 340 at 980Grams.
Carbon booms do 2 things , lighter weight and stiffer, generally speaking, better than alloy.
On a sail that weights 6.5 lbs a minus of .975 variation is a lot.
Driving skills have no direct correlation to a particular car, maybe he had his goldfish in the passenger seat. _________________ K4 fins

1. With some brands.
2. Only if on a sinker. |

If someone paid for a carbon boom and it weights more than a alloy, they deserve it.
You will next say it will effect my sailing if I have cheese on my burger _________________ K4 fins

It would take a pound and a half of cheese to equal the 0.7kg range in sail weights you posted. I suspect that would affect more than your sailing. |

The NW quote is 3.95 kg your quote is 2.56 kg - = .39kg//.858lb
Not .7kg range you have posted.
But .7kg does equal 1.54lbs , which is close to 1.5lbs, cheese or horseshit .
It’s so confusing to get things correctly.
Umm someone posted how precisely sails are cut earlier in the thread@@@
Lofts cut sail panels within hundredths of an inch ... @@
Ohh dear that was you ISO _________________ K4 fins

I don't know whether it's your fault or mine, but you're significantly misreading my posts in this thread. It was you, not I, who posted a list of sail weights varying from 2.5 to 3.2 kg ... the mysterious 0.7 kg range. |

Ahh, so thats where the .7kg is from. The remainder of your posts contain heavy carbon booms VS alloy, 1.1kg mast weight and best sail ever review.Yes I’m quite aware I posted weights
for sails, that are published , or first hand from the company. The range of those weights is of no interest. BTW S2 Maui with the Dragon did not reply . Several others were unknown, and if the OP is interested he can inquire.
I missed a few , but they dont publish weights
I’m not promoting any brand , as you are. Looking over some of my figures I have mistakes in size, the HSM pair are 4.6 not 4.7. _________________ K4 fins
