Interesting contrast as to how Calif. sets priorities:

CA tax dollars are going down a black hole. To put the cost in perspective:

With a potential cost of $98 billion for California's Bullet Train and a population of 39.5 million people equates to cost of almost $2,500 for every man, woman and child in the state.

Then there is:

This is the bike path that runs from the Garden Grove freeway to Angel Stadium.

https://youtu.be/hIGuSNf29U8 This runs for 8 minutes - amazing. I wonder how many of these folks are "undocumented immigrants?

Sure, techno, since it's CA these people must be evil, undocumented immigrants, right?

Have you thought about the possibility that they could also be homeless veterans?

"According to the VA in 2011, veterans made up 14% of homeless adult males, and 2% of homeless adult females, and both groups were overrepresented within the homeless population compared to the general population. The overall count in 2012 showed 62,619 homeless veterans in the United States. In January 2013, there were an estimated 57,849 homeless veterans in the U.S., or 12% of the homeless population. Just under 8% were female. In July 2014, the largest population of homeless veterans lived in Los Angeles County, with there being over 6,000 homeless veterans, out of the total estimated 54,000 homeless within that area."

But no, that wouldn't fit neatly into your picture of California and homelessness in general, would it? Must be illegals, must be bad people? Sorry, techno, but I find your post rather upsetting.

LHDR, your post is equally upsetting, the veterans issue is nothing for Ca. to be proud of, but embarrassed by.

You made it sound like you were trying to diminish the OP's example.

Come on LHDR, I asked:

Maybe none, since the immigrants seem to be the workers that California apparently needs, and the rest of the homeless can't find a job so they live in tents.

I didn't imply or say anyone was evil, that's your words. How many are veterans? I don't know. If there are a lot, then what does that say about the state's priorities? But the contrast is where California chooses to spend their citizen's tax money. The train is a joke.

So Many People Are Fleeing the San Francisco Bay Area, It's Hard to Find a U-Haul
Too many one-way rentals.
2-14-18

The San Francisco Bay Area’s CBS-TV station is reporting on what it calls the “mass exodus of residents” from the Bay Area.

The number of people packing up and moving out of the Bay Area just hit its highest level in more than a decade. Of course people come and go from the Bay Area all the time, but for the first time in a long time, more people are leaving the Bay Area than are coming in. And the number one place in the country for out-migration is now, right here.
A study of the out-migration by Joint Venture Silicon Valley says workers are moving to Sacramento, Austin, and Portland due to a number of factors. But topping the list is the high cost of housing.
“You can’t even contemplate getting into the housing market here,” said Russell Hancock of Joint Venture Silicon Valley. “And I don’t mean just service workers, I mean highly skilled professionals. The tech elite are having a hard time affording reasonable housing in Silicon Valley. So this is difficult, this makes it very difficult for employers trying to recruit.”
Operators of a San Jose U-Haul business say one of their biggest problems is getting its rental moving vans back because so many are on a one-way ticket out-of-town. Nationwide, the cities with the highest inflows, according to Redfin are Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Nashville.

In a given month, if U-Haul had 50 trucks leaving San Jose (outbound) for various destinations and 50 trucks arriving (inbound), truck inventory is balanced. But in the case that more rental trucks are leaving a location like San Jose than arriving, then San Jose will have a truck shortage and other destination locations will have a surplus.

For example, demand must be extremely high for outbound trucks leaving San Jose for Las Vegas, and a one-way rental for the 525-mile trip is almost $2,000. But the price for a 26-foot truck going in the opposite direction from Las Vegas to San Jose is only $121, with four days of travel allowed! In contrast, a one-way car rental from Hertz from the Las Vegas airport to the San Jose airport for four days is about $800 for a compact car and about $1,300 for a full-size car and $2,100 for a Chevy Suburban SUV!

The money we should be spending on Veterans and Seniors is being wasted on illegal immigrants. There is no question about that.

Idiot, the liberals for years have been in favor of a free national ID with biometrics. It is not mandatory. It is the employers who fight this. With this card any employer could not be fined for hiring illegal workers. Simple as that the right wing has prevented it from passing. Also, the card can be used for voting identification.
