PR is good if you don't mind having your car broken into and getting your wallet and phone stolen while out on the water.
Buddy had that happen to him yesterday there.
"Vandals down here in PR (go figure) just broke into our car on the second surf session mid day (ruthless punks) .. boy's lost drivers licenses, some credit cards cash n their phones. I only lost MY phone n shades but I have no way now to return text, make call's"
Truth is it could happen anywhere though. But I know other people who gave up on going there after getting ripped off so many times.

OK, ESE. It's much easier to type esw for me.
This wierdo spot, Horses, is actually very close to a bunch of restuarant's and bars located on the point, just E of the break. Paddling a surfboard out is easy, maybe 2 blocks distance, but launching a windsurf board from the middle of IslaVerde and pinching upwind 5 slog tacks takes bit of time, and determination.

spots like PR require a different way of securing your goods.
leave stuff in a safe at the hotel/ apt.
walk kit to launch or
ditch vital stuff in a bag under a shrub, buried watching to see who's tracking you.
leave car doors open, if you must drive. ditch the key in a secret spot. never take wallet to beach.

just had another side off session at cape canaveral cherie down park.
had the break to myself. waves were 2 foot overhead, break DTL for about 1/2 mile.
used a 5.8 then 6.2 with my 11' 5" carbon. wind was 10-25, long board made the session far less exhausting. sailed from first light until noon.

Hatteras is a great place to sail. But the currents and waves are strong. Norfolk is the best place for jobs close. I go down there every weekend. Its a long drive but better than sailing in VA Beach where the waves suck and the crowds are huge. I have found a paddle board with a mast track works great for the light days. When there is no wind I paddle. My surfing and Cardio have gotten really good.

You guys are lucky to live on the East Coast.
I was living in San Francisco, and the beach there is usually onshore winds, with a very slight angle, and the waves super powerful, and usually well overhead year round, plus summer water temps averaging in the low 50's, fall the nicest time around 58.
A few windsurfers sail it, more popular in the late '80's, but now only a handful of kiters frequent Ocean Beach SF.

Why would you sail on shore at OB with Waddell and D-port only an hour away?

Because, living now in East Bay, the additional 40 minutes, in addition to the one hour drive to Wad/Davs/Scotts, makes it a real long ordeal, as you know with traffic from SF to East Bay, and a touch of traffic in HMB.
Figure I've done Wads well over 150 days, Davs maybe only a dozen, and Scotts double that. Gazo's a handful, N of Pigeon that many, San Gregoria/Pomp/Pescadero a handful, HMB waay too many, Pedro a handful, and I surfed Ocean Beach over 700 days, which is why I started windsurfing.....to sail out and ride waves in at Ocean Beach, not those other mushy slow wrapping wave spots.
Palo is old hat, did it over 100 days back 20 years, Limatour is one of my favs, but it needs that huge swell and very low tides, and really nothing N is consistent or sideshore, and usually almost dead onshore.
There is no surfsailing wave nearly as powerful as Ocean Beach's, except a handful on Oahu, that are now banned for windsurfing.
