I think you are talking "Period"(s)
Period = INTERVAL BETWEEN and under the WAVE
This would be under the Wave height section.
Short period (3 seconds) is wind slop.
Long period stuff is good for surfing, windSURFing.....Like 22 seconds!
3 foot at 3 second periods is a small washing machine
3 foot at 22 seconds is some mackin big fun....alot of water under the dome _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

just to amplify:
period is time per cycle. So, it's the amount of time between wave crests. If the period is 5 seconds, for example, and you were anchored in a row boat (standing still), and you started a stop watch when a wave crest lifted you up, it would be 5 seconds before the next wave crest lifted your boat. (example taken from a past NYS physics regents exam) lol
just so you know, frequency is cycles per time and is the inverse of period. so a period of 5 seconds is the same as saying the frequency is .2 Hz or .2 1/s. |

That had me laughing. I guess it's that time of year when the lots are full and the lineup is chaotic. |
