I ordered a Hot Sails Maui kids rig and a 1.2 Microfreak sail for my 7 year and am super impressed with the package. It comes in a neat little package, with a 4 piece mast, a kids boom & kids sized uphaul, a mast foot and a mast protector. All items are high quality, and the bag has individual slots within the bag to keep the pieces neatly in place. The 4 piece mast fits sails from 0.8 all the way up to 2.7 by adding sections, i.e. 2 pieces for a 0.8 sail and all 4 pieces for a 2.7.

The 1.2 sail fits neatly in the bag too:

Like the color on the Freak, nice setup.

WE got a 3.2 and 310 mast, to use on a Micro Freak, worked really well.

Only $300, wow killer deal!
Don't know how you son sails, but if he's just beginning, tie a very long rope to the board (rear foot strap or plug) and send him on his way. When he crashes, you can just real him back in for another go.
