I doubt it, due to several vulnerabilities. But I get great results with a green cleaner like Simple Green with a scrub brush, then rubbing compound on those gray rail marks, then alcohol on any remaining spots, then bleach solution if some organic spots remain. Put the board on a pair of padded sawhorses in the yard with a hose handy to keep flushing away the residue, and the process goes very quickly. On the typical thoroughly used dirty board, the difference can be astounding. If that doesn't make it look new, maybe a few squirts of white paint on the rails can complete the transformation ... unless, of course, the rails are not white. |

My board gets cleaned off everytime I throw it back into the ocean.
It's like automatic. |

Same here. I clean used boards just after I buy them and just before I sell them. In between it's a toy, not artwork, but then I don't encounter oil blobs or sticky mud where I sail, either. However, I'd never apply power washer force to ANY spots like screw holes, pad edges, decals (many whole decks are decals), repairs, or the slightest chip in a hull. Or, for that matter, a board bottom, considering what my power washer does to a fence post. |

I use a system very close to ISO's, but I spkinkle liberal amounts of Comet into the Simple Green and use a scrub brush on the rough parts and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the smooth parts. Xylene solvent on any tar or adhesives, won't hurt the paint. _________________ Spennie the Wind Junkie

Hey Spennie, I was wondering if you know what is in that magic eraser? It works miracles on any marks you cannot remove otherwise with regular cleaners. I use it not only on my boards but also on the woodwork in the house. You can scrub and scrub tough marks with regular cleaners. One swipe of the magic eraser and its gone!!! It really is magic!! |

See http://home.howstuffworks.com/magic-eraser.htm for the product's history. Example: it's been in use for decades, but its cleaning power was only recently discovered.
Wonder if it will eradicate skulkers ... |
