Windy in town already at 9 am...
Ocean flat
May have to pull some of my crap slalom gear out of the dumpster and give it one more go this afternoon.
What a limbo-world for me.....I can't seem to pull the trigger on all the fancy tweaky gear....occasionally dream of Mach 3 jibes, and no place in my life for more toys.....so i just end up half ass _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

I know all of you faithful parishioners of the Red Roof Church will think my comment below is blasphemy, but...
Is that not the kind of condition where a kite could be more fun?
For the record, I don't own a kite - never even tried one - ever
But I am thinking the same way. What do you do for flattish days in the high teens low twenties?
And would a kite be the answer over super pricey speed stuff?
Ps: this is not an invitation for yet another mean spirited kite vs sail thread
constructive comment welcome.... |

My last visit to Hyannis, Mr. Maui Sails made fun of me while giving a total a$$ kick'n. I might spend the nickel, or $20, or whatever, to redeem myself on old blue. Save me a spot.

I also vote for banishment.
I saw kites drooping on the beach at Kalmoose when I got on it too late
Drove 10 minutes to the northside, and ....
Found a killer setup in Barnstable harbor complete with bouys. Smoking 7.2
Scary kind of speed
I will never kite.....I waited through all the BS in the late 90's, and made it thru to the other side when we went into light gear Carbon-bliss. Then the SUP dropped the bomb on it all. The whole concept of having to beg for a launch/drop just makes me hurl/curl .....then there's the bladder pumping.....
I just need to simplify and get more storage.
More time would help.....and the courage to trash all the crap gear I keep around, and spark up on some tweeky stuff _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

When sailing the Cape’s inner elbow, you’ve got to reach across party lines to have some company.
Fortunately, the locals can be identified by the absence of shorts. Shorts will not hide an aging fat a$$.
Local NOAA meters are getting near 30 ----- |

I rescued a kite board for a kite school yesterday on Great South Bay.They waited for me to carry the board to them across the water (water is waist deep high) and they were on a jetski! One guy thanked me, but the instructor was impassive.
anyway, a guy I know showed up to kite at the (mostly) windsurf launch, but his kite had a leak, so he went windsurfing. Some of "them" are us!!
wind was blowing here on LI yesterday, and even more is forecast for today. Have fun!! |

OC said ”The whole concept of having to beg for a launch…”
After a great day of sailing, one of the outer Cape’s more photogenic kiter / surfers asked me for a launch. With my looks, I was honored; but had to say no. I told her my wife would not appreciate it.

You guys are free to do whatever you want. I'm just trying to stay true to my core values.
Plus, i love birds....windsurfing is as close as i'll ever get.....if i wanted to simulate kiting i would hang around near a construction crane, not a whooping crane....
So i've got these ducks....and we let them out in the yard, but at nite, corral them into a predator-free pen. It's been fun herding them in.
Last nite, i had the leaf blower out.....
At lower speeds, they flap their wings....start gulping air and face the blower.......at higher speeds......it gets interesting _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |
