Hopeful timing.
It's perfect 3.7 for me today.
Winter was better than usual until a month ago. Winds have been better than historical averages for two years, winter and summer..
In Maui that means a LOT of good sailing for years.

It was best December I've ever seen, so much for " this winter was bad" rumor.

For a pretty good Maui WS forcast (and island activity forcast) try the website:

My "go to" sail on the Bay is a 5.5. Today, at Kanaha (Uppers), I was having fun on a 4.2 and it is looks like the next three days are more of the same.

The swell has packed it's bags and left town, but a South is on the way. Check out the West side for spots that work with that direction.

Mauiwindcam.com is a good source for wind and weather info also.

Hi Peter, the forecast is not looking very favorable. If you are coming only to windsurf you may want to try to delay your trip a week. But the good thing about Maui is there is so much else to do. I expect the surfing and SUP to be great next week. Come and enjoy Maui but you may get no windsurfing in - even here it is not windy all the time.

Its been an amazing week of wind and waves. Friday we surfed the huge south swell at Ohukai early morning, sailed Upper Kanaha for a 2 hour session on a 3.7 and then did a late 3.7 sesh at Ohukai in head high waves. It doesn't get any better than that. The wind has turned north and will be light until late next week (after May 22nd). Then should return. The winter was amazing for sailing so whoever said it was not good does not have accurate information. March which is usually a good sailing month did not produce. Usually May is a good month but since March it has been spotty. Timing is everything....... we have an awesome south swell at the moment so wax um up.

Even though you will not sail everyday of your vaca, you will sail everyday starting thurs until you leave. When windguru posts NE/E winds at least 12 knots- its sailable small stuff.

Aloha

Maui wind not blowing has become the most reliable thing here - wind died in late Feb only to come out for maybe a day every few weeks only to dissapear all together for another two weks or so - it does that over and over. In Paril we usually get 28 days of very strong winds - 3.7 and below - this year we got maybe one half day of marginal 4.7. The most reliable thing in Maui since Feb is the chance of wind is about 1 in every 15 days - and thats the kind of wind you would get at golden pond- lame!!!
