Thanks guys so much for the helpful local info !!!
And for brainstorming, and allowing me to "think out-loud" about how crazy this seems.

And yeah, like I said in my previous post - the LONG drive BAF "sounds horrible to me..."
And like slinky said, "You will be exhausted if you drive. Driving sounds like torture to me."
Yeah... no $h!t Smile

The Amtrak idea IS GREAT. Seattle to Boston is probably a very cool route... I could see a lot of country... I could close my eyes when I want... I could ship some gear. Except, I don't really have any board bags... but I could borrow some. Or I could rent gear there... now that I know there's a rental place right at the hotel.
And... you're going to hate hearing this !!
But I found out 2 days ago, that I have a connection with a house in Cape Cod, on the water, apparently <20 min to Old Silver beach. It's a rental that a friend of mine owns, but it's empty surrounding Memorial weekend, and they've offered it to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend said that the neighbors there, windsurf right from the backyard.

Really... I "should just fly"... rent a van... and then rent, beg and borrow windsurfing gear. I could stay for a week. Then, return the equipment, drive to Boston, fly home.
Geez, what a no-brainer... that's what a smart guy would do !!!

But there's something about the torturous drive... the challenge... taking on the interstate by myself... stubborn and perseverance... good traits for learning to windsurf.
Hey... it'd be like Easy Rider (except I'll be in a mini-van stuffed full of windsurfing gear Smile

PS - I'll look into Amtrak and airlines...

Whatever you decide to do Greg, I hope you can make it out here for the race weekend.

The season has started with a bang for me here in eastern Long Island Sound! Three days in a row of sunny, 50 degree air and water temps, east south east wind of 15-22 mph, for at least 2 hours each day! Friday was the best day and sailed my Starboard Kombat 107 with a 5.8 Ezzy Cheetah. Saturday and Sunday I was on my Tabou Rocket 145 with a 7.5 Ezzy Cheetah, wind was lighter with more lulls. No gloves or boots needed!

With any luck we'll get some warm weather to bring those water temps up a notch. I hate wearing boots. My 4-3 wetsuit was perfect, I stayed toasty warm, but not too hot. Hands were fine, I did not spend much time in the water.

Try to stay for as long as possible. The weather changes here like you would not believe!
