You guys are right. It's definitely not a 14 foot face. That place sucks!! You're right though..."mast high"...hmmm....maybe not exactly every set. But that's the memory I have. People were saying they were seeing mast high...I saw mast high...I have the best images burned in my memory from those sessions, and I'll be going back. Smile

I sail most in Kanaha up to Camp One. There are so many waves that each rider has their own set these days, now that about half of the people are gone.
The wind has been blowing so good for two years that Beecher and another guy here have reported more than 300 days IN A ROW on 5.3 or better lately.

...I took a look at the last week at Kanaha....WOW 25-35 everyday. Is this unusual for January?

South Orange County went off yesterday, 4.5 and head high waves. Best wavesailing I've experienced in Southern CA. Better than C-Street, better than Leo.

Just me and a few kiters up at Church. Lots of waves for everyone.

Zirtaeb, did you skip Bodega Rock?

Windsurf mag ran a story about it in the 90's. There was a small group of hardcore guys who sailed it on occasion. Any stories?

Caught the Head as my last NorCal spot, before going to Oahu.
KennyHartz had asked me to go up and film the head with him and a couple other guys. At the time, early '90's, we were mostly sailing PaloMarin with the crew from Marin and Sacto. Tough choice, waste time filming, or sailing WNW 4' long period swell that day. I chose Palo, and with Andrew, Greg, Mikey, Mike, and a couple of Sacto boyz, we got a lined up shoulder high day that looked like Davenport.
The downwinder out to BodegaHead/rock is long, and you still gotta get back, and the wave is a deep water right reef, similar to Duxbury's last reef. Not really a fun experience. The left off that rock is the fastest freightrain I've seen in a while, but it's possibly not makeable on either tow-in, surfing, or windsurfing/kiteing.
Special thanks to the guy who posted the PSC pics. Those are epic shots, the best that wave sailing can give anyone.

What is the best guide to the wind for Trestles/Churchs? Is it the San Clemente iWindSurf sensor? Where do you launch from?

PS I sailed Tourmaline on a 4.2 yesterday from 3 till sunset but the direction was a bit too on-shore to do any DTL.

I was there for 2 weeks last month in December and got 10 days of 4.5, 5.0 or 6.0, mostly 5.0 at Kanaha. Alot of guys were on 4.2s. (and 75-80 degrees Cool ) Who says it doesn't blow on Maui in Dec Question (Hint: don't listen to them!)
